Perspectives Title
November 2012
Greetings from Olsson Associates

Sterling CramerIn this time of Thanksgiving, we at Olsson are grateful for the many ways we get to provide our clients and friends with services that help improve their work and lives. Thank you for your continued trust in our abilities and expertise.

In this issue, we bring you news of a very exciting stormwater funding opportunity we secured through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. We're also pleased to highlight Construction Services Team Leader Curt Mader's work to provide clean water in underdeveloped nations. Lastly, our involvement with Bowersock Mills' North Generating Station is coming to a close as the plant opened this month, and we couldn't be more proud of the Olsson staff members who brought this $25 million project to fruition.

While we always strive to provide our high standards of service, we always welcome suggestions for how we can do better and are thankful for opportunities to improve our crafts. The same applies to this newsletter. Below is a link to a short survey that will allow you to tell us your thoughts on the content and frequency of these monthly messages. If you missed the opportunity last month to let us know how we're doing, we invite you to chime in this month.

As always, I welcome your thoughts and questions. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Olsson Helps Bowersock Mills and Power Company Achieve Accelerated Opening

This month, Bowersock Mills and Power Company (BMPC) opened its North Generating Station in Lawrence, Kansas. The $25 million structure sits immediately adjacent to a new Obermeyer gate at the north end of Bowersock Dam and is rated at 4.99 megawatts with a reinforced concrete structure surrounding four Kaplan low-head generating units. The plant will produce enough clean energy to power about 3,300 homes each day. Olsson Associates played a major role in designing the plant and performed at an accelerated schedule to meet the June 2011 construction start.
