Dear Reader,

We hope you've been having a great fall! The changing of the seasons has brought many exciting changes & updates from us here at MXOtech. This newsletter presents a brief recap of the past three months of activity and also a few recent snapshots that highlight the way we provide exceptional IT services with a personal touch.

ACOThree Reasons IT is Critical to ACO's Success

MXOtech FIT - Solutions for Healthcare

An Accountable Care Organization (ACOs) is a provider -based

network formed to deliver high quality coordinated care while effectively cutting costs.  The following are three ways in which health technology can support this burgeoning healthcare model.

1. Patient Engagement:
The future of healthcare will require EHR systems to not simply store and hold medical data, but intuitively interact with patients. This capability will help patients and providers to stay in contact and monitor the patient's health.

2. Cutting Wasteful Practices:
IT presents a myriad of ways to cut costs for all parties involved in ACOs. However, one way is to monitor a patient's electronic charts to track if unnecessary (often duplicate) tests and treatments are being performed. These errors can represent a large percentage of costs for the health system.

3. Medication Management:

Already widely used, ePrescription platforms allow providers to electronically communicate prescriptions to pharmacists. Yet, prescription platforms have the potential of offering far more dynamic tools such as the ability to check for negative drug interactions on patients that take more than one medication, if patients are taking their medications properly and best practices for each condition's drug therapy.

ENT MXOtech Treats a Medical Practice Center's IT Illness

By Eric Stoliker

Recently, Joanna and I met with Anne and Sandy, physicians at The Ear, Nose, and Throat Center.

This meeting started as simply a customer care meeting.  However, when we inquired about what we could improve or what issues they are having, they mentioned a troublesome issue with their scanner.  Like all physician offices, they are spending considerable amounts of time every day scanning Insurance and ID cards for their records.  The software they were using with their scanner was taking up to two minutes to scan and save into their records.  With dozens of scans every day, this was causing considerable delays and distractions as customers were waiting and information was being entered.  We told them we'd take care of it.  Bart, one of our Network Admins, had the software updated and the issue resolved within 24 hours. The scanning and saving process is now instant!

Needless to say they were impressed, but more importantly, their headache is gone and they increased productivity and reduced a substantial amount of man hours.

If you have a similar situation in your office please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support.  We would be happy to hear from you.
