News & Notes
November 2013

Greetings!
Welcome to the November issue of News & Notes!  Thanksgiving is almost upon us, and we can't think of a better time of year to thank you for your support of our studio's work. Without you, our customers, fans, and supporters, we wouldn't be able to continue doing what we do. We are fortunate to be able to share our pottery, tiles, and woodwork with such an appreciative group.

From all of us to all of you, a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Winter Holiday Series 2013: Peace on Earth Vase
Peace on Earth Vase
Winter Holiday Series
Approx. 11.50"h x 4.50"w
$278 (+$25 s/h)

We are pleased to present this year's Winter Holiday Series offering, the Peace on Earth Vase. During the holiday season, our thoughts turn to the ideal of peace on earth, goodwill to all. The peace lily, a symbol of peace and hope, provides a beautiful reminder of what we strive for. With its lovely white flowers and serene green background with yellow and rust highlights, this piece will not only be an attractive addition to your holiday decor, it can also be displayed year-round.

Unlike in past years, this year the Winter Holiday Series piece will NOT be sold by buyers' drawing or at the Holiday Pottery Fest. The Peace on Earth Vase will be created and sold as a Reserve Edition. Pieces will be numbered, with the number of orders received determining the size of the edition. Each piece will also bear the Winter Holiday Series mark on the foot, in addition to its edition number and our studio and artists' marks.

Orders for the Peace on Earth Vase will be taken online and by phone until noon CT on Tuesday, December 10. After that, the edition will be closed. Please allow up to 6 weeks from the date of order for your piece to ship. If you would like to pick up your order at our Lake Mills gallery or if you have questions, please call our office (1-888-704-POTS) or email Laura Taylor. Thank you!
Employee Spotlight: Shari Little

Shari Little joined Ephraim Pottery in April 2012 as the manager of Ephraim Pottery West, our gallery in Cambria, California. Shari oversaw the build-out of the space and the organization of the new store and helped us get up and running. She was well-equipped for that task, as she formerly owned and managed three galleries on the Central Coast. Shari is an enthusiastic representative of Ephraim Pottery and we're so glad to have her on our team.

Why did you choose a career in gallery management?

I have been an artist my entire life and owned two art galleries for many years where I represented over 60 artists. The ability to assist artists' careers is very rewarding. Combining my sales and artistic skills made my career choice feel perfect.

How is working at Ephraim different than other places you've worked?

I've never worked in an environment that is so amazingly harmonious. From the start it felt as though I had known the Ephraim team for years and years.

Who do you most admire, and why?

Abraham Lincoln. He had a difficult life but persevered to become one of the most intelligent, interesting, compassionate, accomplished, and humorous people in American history.

Holiday Pottery Fest to be held in California for the first time

This year our Holiday Pottery Fest will be held in Cambria, California, the home of Ephraim Pottery West, on Saturday, December 7. A detailed schedule of events is posted online here: https://ephraimpottery.com/holiday-pottery-fest.

The Saturday sale will be held at the Joslyn Center in Cambria, which is less than a quarter of a mile from the gallery. Experimental pieces, ornaments, and miniatures will be available at the sale. Kevin Hicks of Ephraim Pottery will begin the day with a presentation about the process of experimentation in the studio and how experimental pieces come into being. A preview of the items for sale will follow. As in previous years, the sale will be conducted in a buyer's drawing format. Registration is required to participate in the sale and will take place on site at the Joslyn Center as you arrive. Registration is free and does not obligate you to make a purchase. An explanation of how the sale works can be found on our website at https://ephraimpottery.com/holiday-pottery-fest.

We hope to see many of you at the Fest! If you have any questions about this year's event, please contact Kristin (info@ephraimpottery.com). Thank you.
