When you don't feel finished...
 | Song of Simeon |
Do you ever feel unfinished at the end of the day?
Are you always aware of how much else there is to do?
Are there parts of your life that feel incomplete, unresolved?
This week's Gospel passage included the Song of Simeon, a wonderful prayer in our tradition, that I have found to give me peace and hope in times when I am left feeling incomplete. In this video, I give a reflection on the prayer and it's place in my life.
I pray that you may find that solace too - in the end of your days that seem left undone, in relationships ended that left you with open wounds and longings, in the death of loved ones whose lives ended far too soon, in all of the parts of your life where you need peace, and deep in your soul where you long to be set free.
Lord, you now have set your servant free
to go in peace as you have promised; For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior, whom you have prepared for all the world to see: A Light to enlighten the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Peace, Jenny+

Episcopal Relief and Development
Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) is the international relief and development agency of the Episcopal Church of the United States. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization, ERD takes its mandate from Jesus' words in Matthew 25:40, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Its programs work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. Together with the worldwide Church and ecumenical partners, ERD helps to rebuild after disasters and to empower people to identify and work towards lasting solutions that fight poverty, hunger and disease.
From now until December 6, ERD has a challenge grant in place. Donations to its programs or to the Gifts for Life catalog will be matched dollar for dollar up to $500,000. For Thanksgiving or Christmas this year, please consider a gift in honor of a loved one from the Gifts for Life catalog or consider a gift to continue to help with disaster recovery from events such as Hurricane Sandy.
Donations can be made on the Episcopal Relief website (please identify yourself as a member of Trinity, Princeton) or by check. Please contact Ann Zultner if you have any questions.
