 We have a Bishop!
Today clergy and laity from across the diocese gathered at Trinity Cathedral in Trenton to elect the 12th Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey.
The morning began with Holy Eucharist. The day was held and supported with prayer and song. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement, as the Spirit worked in and through the people to call our next bishop.
On the 5th ballot, The Rev. Canon William "Chip" Stokes,
Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Delray Beach, Florida was elected as our 12th bishop, pending the required consents from a majority of the bishops with jurisdiction and Standing Committees of the Episcopal Church.
May we hold Bishop-Elect Stokes and his family in our prayers, as together we live into this new season of life and ministry in New Jersey. Let us also remember all those who offered themselves to be considered in this process, their families and parishes. Finally, let us give thanks for the faithful and transformative ministry of Bishop Councell.

* The Rev. Joan Beilstein, 52, rector of Church of the Ascension in Silver Spring, Maryland;

* The Very Rev. René John, 52, dean, Trinity Cathedral, Trenton;
* The Rev. Canon Donald J. Muller, 60, rector, St. Peter's Church, Medford.
* The Rev. Allen F. Robinson, 43, rector of St. James' Church in Baltimore, Maryland;
* The Rev. Canon Melissa M. Skelton, 62, rector of St. Paul's Church in Seattle, Washington; and canon for congregational development and leadership of the Diocese of Olympia;
* The Rev. Martha Sylvia Ovalle Vásquez, 60, rector of St. Paul's Church in Walnut Creek, California.
Pending a successful consent process, the ordination is scheduled for November 2.

Late love: Late in life, we have opportunities to love and new challenges. How can we be open to recognize and honor them? How can we be remain a real presence to those we love if we are becoming separated by time and space, age, ill health, or by physical and emotional distance? We will search for an answer together in our personal experiences, Gospel narratives, poetry and prayer.
The conversations will be held in the Parlor and will be facilitated by Dick and Juliana Fenn.

Spaghetti Dinner
Sunday, May 5th, 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, May 5, Trinity Church is hosting an Italian
 /Mexican-themed Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the choir and its trip to England this summer. The buffet-style dinner will be served between 5-7 pm, immediately after the 4 pm Evensong church service. This is our last Spaghetti Dinner before the choir trip so it will be a great opportunity to send them off in style and to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the same time! Recommended donations for dinner are $15 per person or $40 per family (although any amounts will be gladly accepted).

Feasibility Study Underway
Parishioners should have received confidential survey forms, either by email or postal mail, asking for your opinion about a possible Trinity Capital campaign. We need your response to enable t he Vestry to make an informed decision. The survey will take only a few minutes to complete-please let your voice be heard. Day of Remembrance on May 19th

 Please join us briefly on May19th, following the 11 o'clock service for Trinity's annual Day of Remembrance in the Memorial Garden. After the service we will gather in the Memorial Garden, facing the main entrance to the church. The Rector will lead us in thanking God for the beauty of our church and its grounds, and, more importantly, to remember loved ones and friends of Trinity who are no longer with us. All are welcome to participate in this special tribute.

Spring Rummage Sale Sets New Record!
This past weekend's Rummage Sale raised nearly $33,000!! There were 150 paying attendees on Friday night-double that of last fall's sale, and over 400 people shopping on Saturday. As all of this money goes to fund Trinity's numerous Outreach ministries, we are thrilled and so very grateful to all of the many volunteers who put their heart and soul into this wonderful endeavor.
While we can't thank everyone by name here, we do want to acknowledge Reilly Platten Sharp, our fearless new Rummage team leader, and what has become known as the Friday Group, the people who work with him almost every Friday throughout the year. Our sincere thanks go to the members of that group: John S. White, Judy Platten Sharp, Margot Southerland, David Wertz, Phyllis Phox, Verena Edwards, M. Helene Davies, Kay Mack, Barbara & Ralph Rubano, Susan MacGregor, and Florence Wolohojian.
If you see these people in church or in town, please extend your thanks and gratitude knowing that their efforts will help a lot of others locally and internationally.

The Basics of Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease
Sunday, May 19th, 1:30 p.m.
The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter will present this special educational program here at Trinity Church.
The program is designed to provide basic information that everyone needs to know about memory loss issues and what they mean for all of us. The different types of dementia, risk factors, obtaining a diagnosis, current research, and planning for the future will be discussed.
This is a free program but it is important to RSVP by May 17 to insure there is sufficient seating and materials. For registration or more information, please contact the Alzheimer's Association at 973-586-4300.

A Melange of Melodie
Saturday, May 4th, 3:00 p.m.
The sparkling coloratura voice of Justine Aronson can be heard in a free recital entitled "A Mélange of Mélodie" on Saturday, May 4 at 3pm here at Trinity Church. Lasting about an hour, the lecture recital will feature works of French composers Francis Poulenc, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Reynaldo Hahn and Lili Boulanger.
Justine is a professional performer who regularly appears throughout the tri-state area. She has sung with the Trinity choirs and may be familiar to the congregation from Fuma Sacra's Bach on Thursdays cantata series. More information about Ms. Aronson can be found at www.justinearonson.com.

News From the Iconographer in Residence
Did you know that Trinity had such a thing? I was consecrated as such at the 11 o'clock service on Sunday, March 17th (an auspicious day for an iconographer of Irish descent). Prior to the service I led the Forum hour, and a number of those who attended asked for a copy of my remarks, which are attached here. I am humbled and excited by the prospect of serving Trinity Church in this ministry.
I hope you will all visit the exhibition of icons (including two of mine) currently on view at the Princeton Theological Seminary's Erdman Art Gallery. The exhibition was the subject of a lengthy article in the Town Topics, which you can read here. I will offer one or two guided tours of the exhibition during Forum hour in May and June. Stay tuned for those dates.
Finally (for now), the 17th annual icon workshop will be held here at Trinity Church July 7th - 12th. We are once again privileged to have Vladislav Andrejev, founder of the Prosopon School of Iconology, coming to lead the workshop. If you have been tempted to take the workshop in the past but are intimidated because you have no artistic training, I assure you that you can write an icon. Beginning students are given a sketch to trace, and all pigments are mixed for you and you are given step-by-step instructions. Please be in touch with any questions you have! MAY 26- Please join us at the 10 a.m. Service (first week of the summer schedule- 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.) as we celebrate all the SundaySchool teachers and leaders. NoSunday School or Children's Chapel. Family Fun Day follows at 11 a.m. outside!

Calling All Trinity Mugs
 Do you have any Trinity Church mugs at home or at your office? The Pastoral Care Flower Ministry needs them! Each wee
k, the Altar Guild creates small flower arrangements in Trinity mugs from the altar flowers they take down. Volunteers from Pastoral Care deliver these arrangements to parishioners and other folks in the Princeton community who may need a "touch" from Trinity. We need more mugs and are hoping that you will consider donating any you have to this outreach ministry.
Mugs may be dropped off at the Reception desk.

Vacation Bible School
 "Come to Athens" JUNE 24-28 where we will experience the journeys of St. Paul and his adventures to share the story of Jesus! Trinity Church is partnering with Nassau Presbyterian and All Saint's on June 24-28 to offer this wonderful VBS experience for ages 3 through students entering 7th grade in the fall. The program runs 8.50 a.m.-noon for all ages with an optional afternoon, outreach focused program for 4th-7th graders from noon -3.30 p.m. VBS will be held at the Unitarian Church on Cherry Hill Road due to construction at Nassau Pres. We need volunteers (adults and teens-community service hours available) to help with crafts, storytelling, outdoor games and activities, shepherding groups, set up, and many more things. One Table Cafe
Seeking Committee Co-Chairs
to Coordinate Dinners
Join a team of dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable One Table Cafe committee members! Meg Hannington and Don Mann have run these highly successful dinners for two years. They are looking to retire and need two new co-chairs to step forward. Their plan is to have a chair-elect or co-chairs-elect in place to shadow them for the April and May dinners and then take over in September, when One Table Cafe resumes.What's important to understand is that the systems are in place, individual committee members are dedicated to specific functions within the system and what is required is one or two people to oversee it all. Zaquen Discussion Group
The Zaquen Discussion Group meets every Wednesday at 4:00 pm in the Library. Zaquen is the Hebrew word for 'Elders,' and this discussion group focuses on spirituality for the senior adults in our community. Currently we are discussing Richard Rohr's book Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life. For more information, please contact the Rev.
