Meet Board Member Karen Townsend

A board member, toastmaster, and mom - Karen Townsend is a busy lady. She is a dedicated, community minded woman who has been very involved with United Way over the years.

 

Karen is Co-Chair of the United Way Women's Leadership Council, volunteers with Meals on Wheels, and serves on the board for Family Support Council organizing the annual Toast of the Town. Karen Townsend shared about her involvement with WLC, "I am honored and humbled to be part of such a special community that allows United Way to use our resources to impact everyone around in such a positive way! The Women's Leadership Council reminds me of how powerful we can be if we all work together." 

 

Karen graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and currently teaches fifth grade math at Centers for Creative Learning.  She and her husband Brad have three children, Bradley, Cole, and Evan.

Also, all school volunteers are required to complete a Mandated Reporter Training.The next training is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at United Way.

Volunteer at the 3rd Annual Literacy Celebration
The Literacy Celebration will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Gaston Community Center. Register to read to children or sign-up to get crafty with a literacy themed art project.

United Way BOARDWALK identifies, recruits, and connects volunteers to leadership and policy making positions in non-profit organizations in Northwest Georgia.
