Headmaster's Greeting |
Born for a Reason
Skepticism is an important intellectual skill. I admire people who know how to ask probing questions that reveal misunderstandings, biases, and assumptions. Well-timed questions can change the entire course of a discussion. Well-framed questions can challenge the presuppositions of an entire group. Well-articulated questions can expose even the most subtle propaganda.
Skeptical inquiry, however, is not an end in itself; its goal must be to uncover truth. But has the contemporary culture lost sight of this goal? Dr. G.E. Veith laments that for many in our day "the concept of a final answer, the very principle of accepting any truth as absolute and final, shuts off the free inquiry of the mind, putting an end to the questioning and the searching which they see as the sum of the intellectual life."[1]
The birth of Jesus, which we celebrate this month, reminds us to reorient our goals toward the pursuit of truth. Jesus said, "For this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth" (John 18:37). We might inquire and even disagree as to the nature of that truth, but His incarnation does not allow us to reject the principle of an eternal, unchanging truth.
As you celebrate the Christmas season this year, think beyond the presents and decorations to the implications of Christ's birth. By testifying to the reality of truth, Jesus sets us free from a life of endless and pointless inquiry. And He reveals that the ground of all truth is found in Him, who is "the way, the truth, and life" (John 14:6). Oh, come let us adore Him, Christ, the Lord.
Merry Christmas,
Pastor William Heine

Reminders Regarding Security |
In our efforts to keep our campus safe and secure we ask for your assistance in several areas..
- We ask that you be mindful of your surroundings as you come and go each day.
- If you see anyone that you think might not belong on our campus, please alert a teacher or the front office - it is better to be safe.
- Once the gym door is locked in the mornings, please do not hold the door open for anyone to let them in. All students and parents arriving after 8 a.m. are to enter through the main school building to check in.
- If you are a baby wing parent, please do not hold the door for anyone. All parents have a key fob that will unlock that door.
- If you exit out of the north side door behind the gym any time during the school day, please do not hold the door for anyone - it is to remain locked during the day.
- We would like to remind everyone to please not leave any bags or purses in your car in plain sight. Thieves look for moms getting out of their car with no purse, which is a signal that the purse is probably in the car. This is when the "smash and grabs" happen. This is the time of year when these incidents happen, because people are Christmas shopping, and thieves are looking for items to steal.
We thank you for being vigilant in helping us keep our campus as safe as possible.
