It's interesting to note that whenever I've embarked on any kind of detox regimen or diet in the last few years, it's not only never worked, it's always, always made me feel worse. I kept thinking, "Ok, THIS is the one that's finally going to really cleanse my body of all the accumulated toxins." But the results are always disappointing.

At the suggestion of a client, I decided to have a test done for a specific gene mutation called MTHFR.
If one has this mutation, it could mean that the ability for the body to detox is greatly impaired. I got the results back recently and viola!, I have the worst combination of the possible gene mutations! That could explain a lot.

What it means is that rather than being able to eliminate the toxins, any type of detox begins to mobilize them, and increase the circulating toxins with no way to actually excrete them from the body. It's like stirring up a hornet's nest within the body with no place for the hornets to go so they start stinging the cells...again! (Best analogy I could think of for the moment)! :-) That may possibly explain why I react so poorly to any kind of detox.  

I don't know for certain if this is the main cause, but have embarked on a program to improve the methlyation pathways and hopefully begin to detox properly in the near future.   

For Further Thought - A Biblical Perspective... 

I think most of you already know that I am a Christian saved by God's grace and the blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore in my weak attempt to give God more glory in my writing, I'd like to share the following paragraph from a sermon that our pastor recently preached. It may give you a different  perspective on why things in our nation have deteriorated and continue to do so, targeting the current health state of affairs.    

"A dark pallor has fallen over the nation; a deadly slumber so that even though God's truth is in our possession, we continue to treat it carelessly. We have lost our taste for God's Word. Our ears will not hear sound doctrine any more, even within the church, and we prefer teaching that suits our fancies or solves all of our problems, many of which  are artificially created by disobedience to his Word in our lives and families. Our table - well, many have become gluttons [by making food an idol]. Then, our food and water supplies are tainted with many harmful chemicals, so much so that many have developed serious allergies to basic dietary staples [and have developed severe health problems]. Food inspectors are paid off and corporations manipulate the laws. If we take a drug to address one symptom, it creates three more, calling for more drugs and more health problems. These things are God's payback for our rejection of his Word - not in every individual case, for many godly people suffer along with the majority. Still we are blinder than moles if we do not see God's hand of judgement upon us everywhere we turn."

Unfortunately, we were given beautiful and perfect gifts of nature by God. Yet, we have abused them.  As greed, power and control continue to dominate our lives, not just at the governmental level, but at an individual level, we will not see positive changes in our economy, environment, food, etc. Therefore, this is a call to place priority on what is most important. For only when God becomes our first love, will He begin to bless us as he has promised and has demonstrated in history to those who obey Him.
