Severe Security Gaps in Symantec Recently Reported 

This week, the Department of Homeland Security published an alert through the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) that warned Symantec and Norton antivirus programs suffer from severe security gaps. 

The US-CERT warned that 24 products across multiple platforms (OSX, Windows, and Linux) are affected and that "exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to take control of an affected system." 

Some of the products affected include Symantec Endpoint Protection, Symantec Email Security, Symantec Protection for SharePoint Servers, and Norton Security.





What Options Are Available To You? 

If you have any of the above listed products, the DHS recommends users to patch them immediately. The US-CERT includes links to the patches or hotfixes that Symantec has provided for these vulnerabilities.
