2012 WLI Holiday Gift Drive Sets New Record

Holiday Gift DriveThanks to the generous members and friends of United Way's Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI), a record setting 919 holiday gift boxes were collected during the Fifth Annual Holiday Gift Drive. That's more than three times the number of boxes collected last year for infants and young children across the region.

The brightly wrapped shoe boxes were packed with educational toys, books, winter accessories and infant/childcare items. Members gathered recently to prepare the stacks of gift boxes for delivery to families served by home visiting programs like CHIP of Richmond and Healthy Families at Family Lifeline and Quin Rivers Healthy Families. See photos.

United Way-supported home visiting programs work with parents in their own homes and provide services that help strengthen families and ensure that children are healthy and ready to learn when they reach school age.

A special thank you to WLI members for their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our region's youngest citizens. To learn more about WLI and how you can get involved, click here.
