You've supported the Lake Travis Education Foundation and the students and teachers of our school district. For that, we thank you. But have you ever considered the possibility of supporting LTEF's mission as a member of the Board of Directors?
School districts throughout the State of Texas are struggling to provide the kind of education all children deserve. Although opinions on our state recapture or "Robin Hood" laws vary, the fact remains that our annual payment continues to increase. The combination of continued growth in our district, the increasing cost of education, and the school financing structure creates the inescapable reality that the students of the Lake Travis ISD will not get the kind of education they deserve without financial support generated outside the property tax system.
The Lake Travis Education Foundation is the largest contributor of non-tax-generated funding to our schools. We need extraordinary directors to work toward increasing our support.
The Foundation needs people who have good ideas, can work well in a group decision-making environment, and are willing to personally expend the effort necessary to make sure those ideas come to fruition.
As a director, you will be working with like-minded individuals who share your passion and enthusiasm for education in our community. You can take pleasure in knowing that your efforts are helping to provide cutting edge curriculum for our campuses as well as scholarships to outstanding students.
As a parent or community member, chances are you're already very busy with family, career, or other charitable activities. It has been said, "If you want to get something done, give it to someone who is busy." Could you be that person? Being a director allows you to see results and establish connections with individuals committed to enhancing the education of our children.
The Lake Travis Education Foundation Board is comprised of a maximum of 33 volunteer directors who serve three-year terms on a rotating basis. New directors are elected annually to fill openings. Candidates are evaluated in light of diversity regarding experience, occupation, interests, school boundaries, and other factors as appropriate.
Serving as a director affords you the opportunity to make a significant, direct impact on the education of the children of the Lake Travis ISD. With a position on the LTEF Board of Directors comes responsibility to fulfill duties and obligations in the highest professional manner while upholding the mission, goals, objectives, and ideals of the Lake Travis Education Foundation.
