As the end of another calendar year arrives, it's time to consider year end tax deductions.  Contributions to a 501c3 organization benefit both the organization and the bottom line of your tax return.  But how do you choose which charities you'll support?

Donating to the right charity requires a lot of heart - and some detailed facts.  Ask yourself some questions... "What is important to me?"  "Does the charity benefit my community?"   Then decide  whether the charity provides the information you require to make a decision you feel good about.   Does the organization define its mission and programs clearly?  Are its goals measurable, and does it provide concrete criteria to describe its achievements?

Since 1985, the Lake Travis Education Foundation has been supporting exemplary education right here in the Lake Travis Independent School District.  The volunteer Board of Directors does this by awarding grants for cutting edge curriculum in our schools.  The Foundation also awards scholarships to excelling high school seniors so that they may further the education that was given such a good start in the LTISD.  All contributions made to the Lake Travis Education Foundation remain in the school district to benefit the students of our district.

There are a number of ways to support the work of the Foundation through your contribution.  Choose to support our Annual Giving Campaign by becoming a Friend of the Foundation through your tax deductible monetary contribution.   Give your teacher a special gift by making a donation in their honor through LTEF's Teacher Appreciation program.   The Foundation also accepts donations to Named Scholarship Funds; you may set up such a fund or contribute to an already-established scholarship.  Details on all of these programs are available on the Foundation's website at www.LakeTravisEducationFoundation.org. 

LTEF's 2013 Gala ~ A Red Carpet Affair will take place Saturday, March 2nd at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.  This annual event features dining, dancing, live & silent auctions, casino games, and entertainment by Radiostar.  Visit LTEF's website to sign up as a sponsor of this event, or reserve a table for 10 before the gala is sold out.
