If you like it, you can come back the following week. Shalom Shabbat meets every Shabbat at 10:00 a.m. At 11:00 a.m., older kids (K and up) have services especially for them: Shachar, Machar, Kadima. Parents can take advantage of the playroom to drop off kids 18 months and up, or hang out with younger toddlers (and other parents). Lunch happens every week around 12:15 p.m. - please join us! Women Led Rosh Chodesh Service at the Daley Center
|
|
Friday, May 10 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. at The Daley Center
We here at Anshe Emet take pride in our egalitarian services. Women leading davening and wearing tallit and tefillin here are the norm, but in Israel, a woman wanting to wear these traditional religious garments in public can be subject to arrest and attacks.
On Rosh Chodesh Sivan, Friday, May 10, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., there will be a women-led Torah service at the Daley Center on Randolph St. in support of Women of the Wall (WOW). This gathering is intended to focus public attention on the goals of WOW and to urge action by Prime Minister Netanyahu, Commission Chair Natan Sharansky, as well as other members of the Israeli government. Debby Lewis will be leading part of this service and everyone is encouraged to join. This will be a women-led egalitarian service with traditional morning prayers and the Rosh Chodesh Torah reading. Please bring your own tallit/tefillin and siddur.
Women of the Wall Chicagoland is a grassroots association and they have obtained a permit from the City of Chicago for this event. It is clear that Diaspora pressure is making a difference!! Let's keep it up.
