With January comes a definite shift in energy and so it is only fitting that our theme this month is, in fact, Energy. In the spirit of new beginnings, my posts will follow a new format this month. I hope you will join me in delving more deeply into the six core values of Real Pilates as we've defined them. This month I'll take three of those principles and give you my best advise for diving into 2013 with big plans.
Real Pilates Principle #1 - Alignment
Like it or not January will be flooded with promises, resolutions and kick starts. You will most likely be swept up in this surge of energy and find yourself making plans of your own. Heed this simple advice and make sure your plans are in alignment with what's practical. Is your goal realistic? Keeping your real life in perspective when setting up goals is key to achieving them. Downgrade your first draft a few notches before going live with it.
Real Pilates Principle #2 - Hands On
Resolutions are often hatched in your mind. This year take a hands on approach. Use the first weeks of January to test drive a few different strategies. Choose a plan A but have a B and even a Plan C at the ready. Get comfortable with each new routine or workout you plan to embark upon. This method will insure you have a consistent trajectory and that the energy you are putting toward your goals remains stable even in the face of upsets.
Real Pilates Principle #3 - Communication
Energy is contagious! Consider the law of conservation of energy which states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but merely shifted. As you march forward full if good intentions this year be sure to communicate your goals to as many people as possible. This outpouring will serve to reinforce your plan and create a support structure that will propel you forward. Communicating your energy causes energy to come right back at you.
