Our neighbors have moved out about 6 months ago.  It feels like it's "bad" Feng Shui to have a vacant house next door.  Anything we should do?

  -Madeline

Hi Madeline,

You are correct----having an empty house next door does negatively affect those around it. Your options are few since it's not your job to make sure the house is sold or rented but you can protect yourself. Placing a small mirror in one of your windows with the reflective side toward the vacant house is a good way to keep that abandoned property from spilling over onto your place.

Another suggestion is to make sure you have something alive, vital, and moving on the front of your home as well. A flag, windchime or windsock would all work----or a birdfeeder which would attract a lot of good energy----all of these would offset the "dead-ness" of the place next door.

The Chinese calendar, called the Tong Shu, reflects astrological cycles which can indicate on a daily basis whether there is a tendency toward good fortune or the
need for retreat or protection. If you're trying to make a decision about moving forward with a project or making a decision, you would want to do this on an extremely auspicious day or at least one indicated as a good day.
