Carole,

I have lived in my house for over 25 years, enjoying good health, financial income, and overall happiness. I have been implementing Feng Shui over the years and attribute my good fortune to that. However, in the last couple of years, everything seems to have fallen apart. My health is being challenged, my job security is gone and I am the most unhappy I've been since I can remember. What's going on? Did my Feng Shui wear out?

~Betty

Dear Betty,

If you think about the flow of nature, nothing stays the same. There are cycles in nature, seasons come and go and the sun rises and sets each day. It's impossible to pin down a particular moment no matter how spectacular it may be.

Feng Shui is based on this same principle that everything flows, moves, changes, morphs. You had a very blessed phase for quite a number of years and now it appears on the outside that things are not going as well. This is the time to do two things:

1. Assess what Feng Shui actions you had taken in the past and whether they're still appropriate (Do you still love the bedroom color? Is the front door still inviting? Are you using all your rooms in a creative way? Has clutter managed to creep in?). It might be time to update and refresh your Feng Shui adjustments.

2. Ask yourself if you can find the blessing within the challenges. Did your illness give you some clarity around your lifestyle, your commitments, your diet that you might not have addressed otherwise? Does having to manage money provide you some insights in your spending habits now that could have prevented some disastrous results later? There may be a very positive reason you are facing these "difficult" situations.

3. There's actually a third consideration: you may have over-stayed your welcome in the home and it's time to leave. If moving has been on your mind, now is the time to look at that possibility seriously.

The Chinese calendar, called the Tong Shu, reflects astrological cycles which can indicate on a daily basis whether there is a tendency toward good fortune or the
need for retreat or protection. If you're trying to make a decision about moving forward with a project or making a decision, you would want to do this on an extremely auspicious day or at least one indicated as a good day.
