A Personal Note from Susan

Many of you know that I recently enjoyed a two-week family vacation at our camp on the St. Lawrence River; the photo is from our dock at sunset. I often refer to this amazing, yet humble spot as "Heaven on Earth".

It isn't easy to unplug for a full two-weeks, especially with three teenagers. There's a part of us that believes we'll miss out on something hugely important, or that our clients will all need us while we are way. I encourage you to resist this urge to stay fully connected with 24/7 accessibility. If I'm going to continue to coach my clients about the importance of making time to be still, and listen to your inner voice...you know, Tap Into Your Center, then I better be prepared to do it myself.

Here's what I've discovered over the years; it takes an extended time away before we allow ourselves to really relax, slow down, and reconnect with family, friends, nature and especially ourselves. The extra time allows the soft voice, the whisper of your true dreams, intentions and answers to your deeper life questions to be heard.

It was the last night of our vacation that I found myself sitting on our deck overlooking several of the Thousand Islands of the St. Lawrence River. It really hit me, how incredibly blessed I am. I just gazed at the beauty all around me, including Jerry my husband and best friend, as he read his "Bass Fishing" magazine. I literally felt my heart expand, my eyes weld up with tears and I felt immense gratitude to God, my creator. It was in this moment that I recalled a reading from A Course In Miracles, and I'd like to share a short excerpt with you below.

I Will Be Still An Instant And Go Home.

"This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And somewhere in your mind you know that this is true. A memory of home keeps haunting you, as if there were a place that called you to return, although you do not recognize the voice, nor what it is the voice reminds you of. Yet still you feel an alien here, from somewhere all unknown. Nothing so definite that you could say with certainty you are an exile here. Just a persistent feeling, sometimes not more than a tiny throb, at other times hardly remembered, actively dismissed, but surely to return to mind again.

When you are still an instant, when the world recedes from you, when valueless ideas cease to have value in your restless mind, then will you hear His Voice. So poignantly He calls to you that you will not resist Him longer. In that instant He will take you to His home, and you will stay with Him in perfect stillness, silent and at peace, beyond all words, untouched by fear and doubt, sublimely certain that you are at home."

I Will Be Still An Instant And Go Home.

Much love,
Susan's Signature

I want to share my product/services with the entire WORLD!

Many business owners are reluctant to identify their Primary Target Audience, as they think that in doing so they are no longer able to work with those that do not fit that demographic/ psychographic profile. We believe so much in what we have to offer, and know the benefits, that we truly want to share it with the entire world.

Over the next several months, I will share with you my 7 Simple Keys to Creating Memorable Marketing. Many savvy business owners agree that the return on investment for marketing is difficult, if not impossible, to measure. Yet, when a campaign has run its course, most business owners will either say that they "felt" it was successful or that they did not "feel" it was successful.

In an effort to increase the "feeling" of a successful marketing campaign, in this issue, I will highlight Key #1: Know Your Target.

This Key is so incredibly important that it actually shows up in both of my trainings; you may recall that it was Step Two: Identify Your Ideal Customer, of my 7 Simple Steps to develop a New Business Development (NBD) system. Although the words are slightly different, the essence is the same. It is impossible to create a successful marketing campaign without first identifying who you are attempting to reach, who is your primary target audience.

I am yet to hear from a client; "Susan, I have unlimited marketing budget and I want you to invest it all on my behalf." More realistically, we all have limited funds in which to invest in our marketing and NBD system. The strategy, language, media placement, and offering will be different depending on who you are trying to reach. Although your product or service my appeal to several segments; your marketing and NBD efforts need to be very targeted.

What I often recommend to my clients, is to research the previous several years of business, determine where 80% of their revenue is being generated, that most likely will determine their ideal customer. If you are a new business owner, and do not yet have sales history, then after doing a bit of market research, determine who you believe will be your ideal target, describe them in as much detail as possible and then create your marketing in their preferred language, place your marketing where they hang out, and expect that the majority of your revenue will be earned serving this, your ideal customer.

Finally, I will add for your consideration that in my professional opinion, when you narrow your target market, determine who your ideal customer is, you can be seen as an expert - and experts command more respect, sell more, and charge higher prices.

In future issues of my Co-Creator's Corner I will highlight in more detail each of the 7 Simple Keys to Creating Memorable Marketing. If you can't wait until then to begin creating your memorable marketing campaign, I invite you to request a free strategy session with me. It would be my privilege to have this very important discussion with you.

Here is where I will spotlight something that I think is pretty special. It may be a recent book that I've read, a product that I have used, or perhaps a program that I believe is worth checking out.

I want to share with you a book that I read while on vacation, my daughter Samantha bought it for me as a gift and I loved it. Daring Greatly by Brene` Brown. It is about living a wholehearted life, and the importance of vulnerability and shame resiliency.

Brene` refers to all of us as leaders in our lives in one capacity or another; I do believe you would enjoy and gain new insights by reading it.

A Thought to Ponder

what you do second, and what you do not do at all."
