Atlanta and the state of Georgia will be hosting the AIAA Aviation and Aeronautics Forum and Exposition AVIATION 2014 June 16-20 located at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. This event will allow attendees the chance to collaborate with leading innovators, network with colleagues and new clients, understand technology integration, and identify business opportunities.

Georgia Named No. 1 Most Competitive State in the Nation
Gov. Nathan Deal announced on May 6, 2014 that Georgia was named the No.1 most competitive state in the nation by Site Selection magazine.
The magazine releases its Top 10 Competitive States every year in May. The Top 10 Competitive States ranking is based on an index of 10 criteria, most of which are tied to new projects and expansions tracked by Site Selection's New Plant Database. Georgia was also named the No.1 State for Business by the same publication.

Aerospace States Association Committed to Strengthening Aerospace Industry

Deputy Director Amy Hudnall represented Lt. Governor Casey Cagle at the Aerospace States Association (ASA) annual meeting at the Space Foundation in Colorado Springs. ASA is a nonpartisan organization of Lt. Governors, Governor appointed delegates, and associate members from aerospace organizations and academia. ASA represents states' interests in federal aerospace and aviation policy development. ASA advocates on behalf of all 50 states for research and design funding, workforce training, economic development in aerospace and aviation, excellence in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, and keeping states competitive in a global marketplace.

Georgia hosts Bavarian-American Aerospace Symposium
The Center of Innovation for Aerospace and Georgia Tech joined the German- American Chamber of Commerce, in welcoming a delegation of aerospace academic and industry experts from Bavaria, Germany to GTRI for a joint symposium on aerospace industry research. The theme of the Symposium "Driving Forward Aerospace Innovation: Bavaria, Germany and the Southeastern USA" alludes to Bavaria as the home of the BMW automobile.

CAIIAC Has Been Approved by NIST
Last month, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) awarded 19 advanced manufacturing technology planning grants totaling $9 million to new or existing industry-driven consortia to develop technology roadmaps aimed at strengthening U.S. manufacturing and innovation performance across industries. The project is planned to begin this month.
