EMPOWERS AFRICA AWARDS THREE ADDITIONAL GRANTS
Due to the generosity of our donors, Empowers Africa was able to award three additional grants for 2013. The organizations receiving these additional grants are Big Life Foundation, SA College for Tourism and Man-Rod Academy.  We are very pleased to support these outstanding organizations.  You can click on the logos below to find out more about each of these groups.

Meet Cleopatra and Cliarity Chikomba, twins who have been recipients at one of the 486 supplementary feeding sites in the areas surrounding the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, Zimbabwe.  This feeding program is organized and funded by the Malilangwe Trust and the Singita Community Development Trust.  Empowers Africa is proud to be associated with this beautifully run organization.  They have already made a long-term impact on those living in the areas surrounding the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve.  Cleopatra and Cliarity have been part of the feeding scheme since they were 6 months old, and today they are a healthy, thriving duo. On Friday, November 16, 2012, 90 young women from across southern Africa graduated from the SA College of Tourism. This is an organization supported by Empowers Africa that is located in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa. SACT is the first training center in southern Africa to focus its training program on the development of operational and management skills for the lodge and guesthouse industry. Every year, SACT selects 90 young women -- all unemployed and from impoverished backgrounds -- and sponsors them for a yearlong training course in hospitality service skills. PICTURES FROM OUR RECENT TRIP TO AFRICA
Empowers Africa Trustees Lyn Pedersen, Krista Krieger, Jenny Kennedy, Catherine Howell and Patricia Glass and 46 guests recently traveled to South Africa to visit schools and health clinics championed by one of Empowers Africa's grantees - Africa Foundation (www.africafoundation.org.za).  These projects are located in communities outside of &Beyond's Phinda Private Game Reserve and Ngala Private Game Reserve.  Some of the guests also had the chance to visit projects outside of ZuluWaters Game Reserve that are supported by the Dalton Education Trust (www.daltoneducationtrust.com).  Many of the travelers had never been to Africa before so it was a chance to give them both an amazing wildlife experience and at the same time expose them to life in the neighboring communities.
