ANNOUNCING OUR 2013 GRANT RECIPIENTS
Empowers Africa is pleased to announce our first grant recipients for the year 2013.  We made grants to 13 nonprofits doing exceptional work on the ground in Africa.  This is the inaugural year for Empowers Africa, and we are proudly led by a group of 17 trustees and an Advisory Committee.  Our mission is to protect wildlife, conserve land and empower people in sub-Saharan Africa.  For more information about Empowers Africa or our leadership, please visit our new website or email us at info@empowersafrica.org

Big Life Foundation - Amboseli-Tsavo, Kenya
Wilderness Wildlife Trust - Liwonde National Park, Malawi
Ikamva Labantu - Cape Town, South Africa 
Singita Community Development Trust/Malilangwe Conservation Trust  - Malilangwe Reserve, Zimbabwe
Mad-Rod Academy - Lamu, Kenya
Good Work Foundation - Sabi Sands, Mpumalanga, South Africa
Lalela Project - Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa 
The Imibala Trust  - Somerset West, Cape Town, South Africa
Utah Community Garden/Inzalo Community Project - Sabi Sands, Mpumalanga, South Africa  

ABOUT EMPOWERS AFRICA
Empowers Africa focuses on funding:
1) programs in communities that surround protected conservation and wildlife areas or World Heritage sites
2) programs in urban communities where tourism is a strong source of development
3) programs that support the protection of wildlife and land conservation
