Qualifying was held outside of Ensenada where Trophy Trucks and Class One Cars each attempted at being the first one to take the green flag on race day in their class. KRE drivers, Bryce Menzies and Jason Voss didn't miss a beat as they qualified on the 4.3 mile course and when final qualifying times were released, the drivers would be starting 2nd and 3rd off the line. Along with Menzies and Voss, Luke McMillin would also be starting the race 6th off the line and BJ Baldwin right behind him in 7th. With four drivers starting the race in the top ten it would give KRE the prime opportunity to take home another win and more podiums.
Come race day all the drivers were on their A-game and battles were brought to the table. The race took 8 hours and 50 minutes for the first Trophy Truck to complete and it would be Bryce Menzies and Pete Mortensen who came across the finish line first, leaving the everyone in dust behind them for a majority of the day. Menzies and Voss would trade lead positions numerous times but it was Jesse Jones who came from a 16th start to take over the lead for a portion of the race as well. Jones pushed his KRE powered truck in attempts to beat out Menzies and Voss, but with a minor issue, Jones would not be able to complete the win. Along with Taking the Trophy Truck win, KRE would also claim the Class 1 win with Cody Parkhouse. With a hard fought fight for the win, Parkhouse finished his race in 9 hours and 51 minutes.
Kroyer Racing Engines swept the BAJA 500 Trophy Truck podium and had five drivers finish in the top six.

Best In The Desert puts on Vegas To Reno, the "Longest Off-Road Race In The United States." The 534-mile course consisted of fast graded roads, washed out terrain, sharp rocks and none other than the famous Nevada silt that engulfs the valley. Over 50 Unlimited entries made for a packed day of qualifying just 2 days before race day.
2013 Vegas to Reno winner, Jason Voss had a smooth qualifying run and it was no surprise when he was announced as the pole setter for Fridays race. Starting the race with fresh air is always beneficial, but this race is notorious for the winner coming from the back of the pack and surprising everyone. Bryce Menzies claimed his first ever roll in the #70 Trick Truck during qualifying and this error would have him starting at the back on race day.
Race day started at sunrise on Friday morning when motorcycles, quads and UTV's made their way off the start line and left lines of dust across the Nevada desert. Trick Trucks staged for the race and Jason Voss left the start line at 9:30am where he left everyone chasing his dust.
The Kroyer powered Trick Truck of Jesse Jones was in the hunt as he started 3rd off the line and was pushing just as hard as Voss. Behind Jones was also Steve Strobel who was attempting to close in on the 5 minute lead that Voss had put on 2nd place by race mile 300. None other than the #70 truck of Bryce Menzies had creped up to 5th place on corrected time by race mile 300 and had no intention of backing down. His intentions were clear but luck was not on the teams side. Minor mechanical issues would pull the Menzies team out of contention.
Voss never looked back when he left the start and succeeded at leaving everyone in his dust all the way to the finish. Crossing the finish line in just 8 hours and 29 minutes. This win would be Voss' third BITD win this year and his starting to solidify another Trick Truck Championship.
Kroyer Racing Engines Trick Truck finished 3 out of the top 5 for this years race.
