Many of you have participated in our city visioning process over the past several months, and we are very grateful for your input and participation. In October, the City Council hosted a public workshop to review some of the results of this visioning effort and launch the second phase: developing a strategic plan to achieve our vision. Community consensus regarding the City's future seemed to fall into seven broad goal areas, listed below. Now we need your thoughts about how to carry out these goals! The City Council will host another public workshop on Tuesday, February 25, at 6 PM in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. We will be asking the community and City Council to identify some specific strategies and tasks for each of these seven areas:
- Public Safety: Ensure that American Canyon remains a safe community
- Community and Sense of Place: Build on the strength of our local community to develop a clear sense of place and establish our unique identity
- Economic Development: Attract and expand diverse business and employment opportunities
- Recreation and Outdoors: Expand opportunities for use of outdoor recreation and an active lifestyle
- Transportation: Improve the City's transportation network to mitigate traffic and enhance the quality of life for the community
- Infrastructure: Develop and upgrade infrastructure resources to support sustainable growth
- Quality Service and Organizational Effectiveness: Deliver exemplary government services
Your voice matters - plan to attend the workshop! The staff report and agenda for Tuesday night is available here. For information about the Visioning and Strategic Planning process please see AmCanVision.org.
