Hands down one of the jewels of American Canyon is the Wetlands. In a couple weeks we'll have a great opportunity to thoroughly enjoy and discover the wonders of our beautiful Wetlands. A new event, the Great Backyard Bird Count and Birding Adventure will be sponsored by the Napa-Solano Audubon Society and is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 14 & 15.
Plan to join in on fun nature activities for kids and adults, tag along on a beginning bird walk and talk with experienced birders about recent sightings and the best places to visit in Napa or Solano Counties. Mark your calendars- flyers will be available on our website soon. Hope to see you there!

On the Agenda....
The next City Council Meeting is Tuesday, February 4th at 7:30 PM. Note! Council meetings usually start at 6:30, but the time has been changed this week to accommodate a School District Master Plan Workshop (for more information about the workshop, see the left hand column). The full agenda for the Council meeting is available HERE. Included this week is an update regarding the Governor's recent Drought Declaration asking all of us to voluntarily conserve 20% of our water usage. The City Council will discuss steps to help accomplish this request as well as actions needed in the next several months to address the water shortages. If we don't get some serious rainfall in the next few months we could be looking at very strict conservation measures.
The Council will also consider a program that will help homeowners finance renewable energy and water efficiency improvements on their property. If you choose to participate in this voluntary program the money financed for the improvements can be repaid with your property taxes. This program could be a great tool to fund energy saving improvements offering immediate savings in your energy costs.

Flex Your Water Conservation Skills!
Two weeks ago the Governor issued a Drought
Declaration asking for a voluntary 20% reduction in water usage state-wide.
On February 4th our City Council will discuss how American Canyon should address the upcoming water shortages. In all likelihood this situation will get worse before it gets better and we will help keep you informed. Following are some 'low hanging fruit' suggestions to help save water:
- Turn off the tap while brushing teeth
- Run full dish & clothes washer loads
- Take quick (not leisurely) showers
- Check for plumbing & irrigation leaks
