South Broadway to be Closed for Paving
South Broadway will be closed to through traffic between American Canyon Road and Mini Drive on Tuesday, August 20 and again from August 26 through August 28 to allow a city contractor to complete a pavement overlay. Flaggers will allow access for residents in the area, but others are advised to use alternate routes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The street will be open to traffic at night, but reduced speeds are advised until the paving is completed on August 28. The schedule calls for Ghilotti Construction to complete the South Broadway Improvement Project in September.
For Information or to report problems,
contact the Public Works Department at 647-4558.

Greetings!
Tuesday evening the City Council will consider a contract to apply a life-extending "seal" to 139 streets in American Canyon. This type of seal, when applied every 5-10 years, will extend the life of asphalt streets for many, many years. Nearly every street built in the last 12 years will be sealed and protected! It has been many years since the City has been able to complete a street maintenance project this significant, and we are excited to make it happen this fall.

On The Agenda....
The City Council will meet next Tuesday, August 20, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. At 4:30 PM, the Board of Supervisors will join the City Council for a joint meeting and they will hear updates on Devlin Road construction, the Watson Ranch and Canyon Estates projects, the City's community visioning project, and the Health Care Reform Act. At 6:30, the City Council will consider an application for a grant to study the possibility of a new trail segment along American Canyon Boulevard between Silver Oak Trail and Silver Oak Park; refinancing bond indebtedness used to finance infrastructure in the La Vigne subdivision; award a contract for street maintenance sealing on most streets in the City; and much more. Community Wide Visioning Update
In the last seven weeks, more than 500 people in American Canyon have answered the questions, "What makes American Canyon special today?" and "What would you like American Canyon to be like in 5 - 10 years?"
Have we heard from you yet? The COMMUNITY WIDE VISIONING project was launched in July and we've had a very busy seven weeks of asking the community these and other questions. We have hosted focus groups, created surveys, placed newspaper ads, chatted with people at the 4th of July festivities, and talked to folks at swim lessons, the senior center and the water carnival. But we still need to hear from you! There are two great opportunities to share your views in the next two weeks. A quick 5 - 10 minute survey is available on our website and HERE if you want to take it now! There is also an Open House scheduled for Saturday, August 24th at City Hall between 10 AM and 1 PM. Stop by anytime to learn more about the project and tell us your vision.
Why are we asking for input and what are we going to do with the information? All this feedback will be compiled and crafted into one shared vision for the whole community. Using the information gathered, the City Council will create priorities and strategic plans for the City, so we end up exactly where we want to be in five or ten years! We will also use the information to set budgets, allocate resources, and define expectations. We can also use common themes to update our website and freshen our "image" to match the community's values. More information is available on AmCanVision.org.
VISIONING OPEN HOUSE

Nextdoor
YOU can be the 1,000th American Canyon member to join your neighbors on Nextdoor! No prizes, but it would be kind of a cool distinction! At press time 992 residents signed up. Nextdoor is a social media tool for neighbors to share messages with their neighbors. Looking for a gardener? Lost your puppy? Share it on Nextdoor. The City also posts information of community wide interest, but cannot see your posts, so your conversations are just between you and your neighbors. Go to www.nextdoor.com for more info.
