Chile presentó dos proyectos destinados a mitigar y adaptarse al Cambio Climático, gracias a los aportes técnicos y financieros de fondos multilaterales centrados en estas temáticas, como lo son el GEF y FCPF, actuando en calidad de socio de implementación el Banco Mundial.

Two decades ago, a project to convert one million hectares of forest to rice paddies was undertaken by the Indonesian government in southern Kalimantan. As predicted by experts, this Mega Rice Project (MRP) was a massive failure and was eventually abandoned, but not before it destroyed critical orangutan habitat.

The unsung heroes of the summit were the representatives from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). They are developing ambitious green plans despite their poverty, weak human assets and high economic vulnerability to disasters.  

The eighth meeting of the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance (SCF 8) convened in plenary and working groups to review documents, hear reports and discuss agenda items on: climate finance flows; the financial mechanism; Forums of the SCF; guidance to operating entities; financing for forests; measurement, reporting and verification (MRV); the SCF report to the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20); and other matters.
