Planting day was a huge success last week! Students enjoyed the day and our nature center has many new trees. We also planted birch around the school grounds. We are Birchview, after all! This project was funded through multiple sources.
- A $2,000 dollar grant from The Tree Trust was funded through Excel Energy. This paid for 45 trees.
- A private donor paid for another 11 trees.
- We received $2,000 through a Lowe's "Toolbox for Education" grant. This will fund maintenance and educational materials for the nature center.
- Steve Narr built an arched railing for the bridge.
- Cub Scouts started rebuilding our walkways
- A community association is also asking how they can support our outdoor learning area so more good is yet to come.
We are recruiting volunteers to help with watering over the summer and are in great need of ice cream pails. Please send any extra ice cream pails you have to school. We need 100-120 for watering this summer.

This weeks words of wisdom are on asking questions.
Confucius said:
He who asks a question may be a fool for a moment, but he who never asks a question is a fool forever.
Many times in school we don't understand what our teachers are trying to say or we don't understand something we've read. This happens to every
single one of us. This doesn't mean that you aren't smart. It just means you are a human being.
So don't be afraid to speak up. After all, before you can ask a question, you have to be thinking, which makes you a whole lot smarter than anyone who is not.
With something to think about, this is Birchview Elementary. Make it a great day . . . or not. The choice is yours.
