November

Each month, Osterhout staff members offer recommendations on some of their favorite reads. Some are hot off the press, while others have stood the test of time.

The complete archives of Staff Picks can be found here.

Please support our North Branch
Please consider making the Osterhout Free Library North Branch part of your year-end charitable giving with a  tax-deductible gift. We are here for you, your family and your neighbors, but we need your help. Since the new North Branch opened in November of 2010, we have made physical improvements to the building and its contents, but we have a wish list to make it even better, safer and more comfortable for patrons and staff alike.
  • Book Shelving - more needed for collection $1,750
  • Air Conditioning units for community room $1,500
  • Awning to cover front entrance ramp $3,500
  • Signage for exterior of library $750
  • Lighting improvements above shelving units $2,500
Contributions of $250 and above will be publicly recognized. Any amount you choose to give will help us acquire the above items and let us continue to provide educational and recreational materials and programs for adults and children! Click here to see how the North Branch has supported and made an impact in our community so far this year.

Thank you for your support!

Each month she asks the staff to personally recommend favorite book and provide a quick summary. Sylvia also does a lot of work with the Pennsylvania Library Association, especially the Northeast Chapter and the Pennsylvania Academy of Leadership Studies.

Become our Friend!

We want you! Volunteer in our community and make friends by joining the Friends of the Osterhout Free Library. This group of volunteers formed shortly after the Agnes Flood of 1972 and began raising funds for the Library through several fundraising activities. In 2014, the Friends raised over $21,000 by selling books at their annual book sale, held each June. Over the last 38 years, the Friends Book Sale has raised almost $400,000! All money raised by the Friends goes directly to supporting the library's mission.
