Pasta... it's mmm mmm good!

Come out Saturday, May 17th and support the Osterhout Library's North Branch for our annual Pasta Dinner, Book and Bake Sale held at the North Branch, 28 Oliver Street Wilkes-Barre, from 4-7 p.m. Take-outs will be available after 3 p.m.

 

Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 8 and under and includes a spaghetti dinner, salad, bread, dessert and a beverage. For more info and to view the flyer, click here.

Documentary Premiere Party
A premiere party for the Osterhout Free Library Documentary was held Friday, April 11th. The red carpet affair was enjoyed by 100 special guests, all who left with a commemorative 125th anniversary tote bag with various gifts inside, including the newly released 
125th anniversary booklet. 
 
The booklet is a collection of stories, photos and history of the library through the eras of its nine Head Librarians from 1889 - 2014. Funding for the printing of the booklet was provided by The Luzerne Foundation and the Friends of the Osterhout Free Library.

Documentary showings
Come out and enjoy two public showings of: Osterhout Free Library: A 125 Year Legacy of Public Service. The documentary discusses the Library's early history and service to the community. Free popcorn for all. 

 

Public showings in the Reading Room:
  • Thursday, May 15 at 6:30pm
  • Friday, May 16 at 2:00pm & 6:30pm (as part of the Third Friday Art Walk)
The Documentary was produced by Wilkes University faculty and is available for a $10 donation at any Osterhout Branch.
Get Caught Reading!
May is Get Caught Reading Month. Mail or e-mail a picture of you, someone, or something reading and we will enter you in a drawing for a gift certificate. 
 
Keep an eye out because our picture may be posted in the Library, on Facebook and/or on the Library website. In your letter/e-mail, please include your photo, name and phone number. Photos can be sent to:

Kick up your heels!
Did you know that April 25 - May 4 is National Dance Week?

Celebrate with us on Saturday, May 3rd from 11 a.m. - Noon when the ballet comes to the Library! Dancers from Ballet Northeast will demonstrate how the story of Sleeping Beauty is interpreted in dance.
