Helping the Bees
Rotary Frenchman's Bay West Park is now boasting brand new bee condos!

Bee Condo Rotary Park
This installation attracts non-aggressive bees and is part of Pickering's goal to boost the pollinator population. The City of Pickering, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, SoRo Good Neighbours, and the Pickering Rotary Club collaborated on the installation of the pollinator habitats. Bees are essential for the healthy growth of natural plant communities, and most notably, food producing plants. View more details.
Pickering Among First Canadian Cities to Take Mayors' Monarch Pledge
In the last 20 years the monarch butterfly species has declined by 90 per cent, and as pollinators, they play an important role in the health of our environment and community.

To help increase action and awareness to help the monarch butterfly, Mayor Dave Ryan has taken the Mayor's Monarch Pledge! This pledge was created by the National Wildlife Federation to encourage Mayors in North America to take at least three actions in one year to address issues that contribute to the loss of this species. Pickering is aiming to complete nine actions, making it one of the first Canadian Cities in the Mayors' Monarch Leadership Circle. To learn more visit our website.
