Ernie L. Stroud Park Upgrade

Local students teamed up with City staff on a park enhancement project as part of the City's Celebrating Sustainable

Neighbourhood Program.

Winning Group: Dunbarton High School Enviro Council

The project includes an educational water-efficient pollinator garden

with an accessible walkway, three new benches; one of which was hand-carved from a 92-year-old fallen ash tree, and 30 new trees; 18 of which a resident donated, to replace trees infested with the Emerald Ash Borer.

See how you can get involved in 2015!

Commit to installing and regularly testing Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms in your home - It's the law!

CO is an invisible, tasteless and odourless gas that can be deadly.  It is produced when fuels such as propane, gasoline, natural gas, heating oil or wood do not burn completely in fuel-burning appliances and devices such as furnaces, gas or wood fireplaces, hot water heaters, stoves, barbeques, portable fuel-burning heaters, generators, and vehicles.

Prevent CO in your home:

  • Ensure all fuel-burning appliances in your home are inspected annually. Visit COSafety.ca to find a registered contractor near you.
  • Check that all outside appliance vents are not blocked.
  • Never use a portable fuel-burning appliance inside (i.e. barbeques, portable heaters and generators).

Know the symptoms

Exposure to CO can cause flu-like symptoms such as

headaches, nausea, dizziness, as well as confusion,

drowsiness, loss of consciousness and death.
