Pickering's Urban Forest

In 2012, the City planted over 300 trees in our parks and boulevards. Residents nearby are given education pamphlets on how to care for their new boulevard additions.

Community tree planting is done throughout the year, and residents also have the option of planting a tree through our Commemorative Tree Program to mark an event or pay tribute to a loved one or organization.

Pickering wins Durham's 2012 Smart Commute Employer of the Year
Pickering was recognized as Smart Commute's 2012 Durham Employer of the year for our continued effort to reduce traffic congestion and take action on climate change through the promotion of sustainable modes of transportation. As a Smart Commute member since 2008, we participate in a number of initiatives, such as Bike to Work Day, and Smart Commute Week. We will continue to promote these inititiatives throughout the year to make 2013 just as successful!

Visit Smart Commute Durham to see how your local employer can get involved.
