President's Message: Joey Liebmann

"Service to a just cause rewards the worker with more real happiness and satisfaction than any other venture of life."

~Carrie Chapman Catt~

In this season of giving, our organization remains focused on giving back to the children in our community.  The holiday season provides many opportunities for our members to give of their time to make the holiday season brighter for those in need.  This month many of our members will participate in our annual Giving Tree and volunteer their time to community activities.

The Giving Tree is a joint project with Encompass. Encompass provides first names, ages and wish lists of children at their centers who may otherwise not have a Christmas without our members' generosity.  In previous years, we have been able to provide Christmas to 100 children.  We hope to do that again this year!  If you are interested in participating and bringing the magic of the Christmas season to local children, please contact Jenna Bauer at msjennabauer@yahoo.com.

Many of our members will be volunteering their time at The Children's Museum of Green Bay to help prepare and serve meals to children at the EAT (Easy, Affordable, Tasty) Event December 2nd and 3rd.  We look forward to our collaboration with The Children's Museum of Green Bay and are confident we will have just as much fun volunteering, as the kids participating in the program.

We also have members participating in the many activities scheduled for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week November 18-22.  Our volunteer efforts will help the 1,400 Brown County homeless children have a Thanksgiving meal, as well as raise awareness about the needs of our community.  We are very much looking forward to volunteering with the Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition.

Finally, our goal again this year is that we also give $50,000 to the Back to School Store and continue to support our other programs.  The children of Brown County need our services now more than ever.  As you enjoy this season of giving, please remember our organization and help us to continue to give back to the children in this community!

We still have a few seats left for our Chicago Shopping Trip. Sign up now to join us on November 16!

Providing Christmas For Children In
Need
With
The Giving Tree

Every Christmas, Service League partners with Encompass to help children in Brown County who are in need.  During the holiday season, Service League receives the names and ages of children from Encompass Centers who would not be able to have a Christmas without the help of others.  Many family circumstances may contribute to hardships for these individuals and Service League makes sure that these children are able to celebrate the joy and magic of the season.

The Giving Tree gives Service League members the opportunity to answer these children's Christmas wishes.  In previous years our organization has provided Christmas for over 100 children in Brown County!

If you would like to provide a family in need with the gift of Christmas, please contact us!

Chris Karman

Chris Karman is a native of Iron Mountain, Michigan and currently lives near Denmark with her husband, Mike and daughters, Athena and Geneva.

She feels fortunate to have spent the last eight years focusing on raising her daughters. It's a tough job, but she's proud that its a good fit for her.

Chris worked at Humana for 16 years before her daughters were born. She still keeps her hands in the business world by running two at-home businesses, Ahni & Zoe scrap-booking products and Norwex cleaning supplies.

Chris has many hobbies including shopping, all things water (swimming, boating, fishing), scrap-booking and most importantly attending concerts. She loves all types of music, but is a rocker at heart, especially 80's rock.

This is Chris' second year running Basic Necessities, which provides hats, gloves, sweatshirts and sweatpants to Green Bay Area Public Schools for elementary school children. She was also on Rummage Sale Committee and is organizing our Second Annual Windy City Shopping Trip. There are still a few seats open for a day of shopping with a fun group of ladies. Be sure to contact Chris if you'd like to join us!
