Get to Know Us: Joey Wilinski
Membership Chair
I grew up in Eagan, MN and have lived in Maribel, WI for the past 25 years. My husband Paul and I have been married for 25 years as well. We were not blessed with kids, but we do have a hobby ranch, 1 dog named Mattie, 12 horses and 17 barn cats (and 0 mice)!
I graduated college with a degree in Biology and Chemistry and worked for the State of Minnesota as an Environmental Health Specialist. Upon marrying Paul I joined the family business, Wilco Cabinet Makers. I have been at Wilco 25 years and work in all capacities of the business including Design and Sales. My main responsibilities include: pricing, marketing, new display designs, research and development for new product lines, following trends and styles, and environmental licensing and issues for Wilco's manufacturing plant. I have been a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) since 1996, and a Wisconsin Registered Interior Designer (WRID) since 1998. I am also on the Advisory Board for Fox Valley Technical College for the Interior Design Program as well as being the Advisor for the Kitchen and Bath Program.
I love music and play guitar, ukulele and a little banjo. Some of my other hobbies include: various barn chores, and acting as a stable hand and groomer for my husband when he competes in Working Cow Horse shows throughout the western USA.
My current role in Service League is Membership Chair and assistant Back to School Store Shopper. The previous roles I have held are: Co-Chair and Assistant Co-Chair for Back to School Store, Grant Writer, and all-around laborer.
One project that I am particularly proud of is the new Back to School Store video that we just completed. I worked on this from start to finish, and I feel that it will be an additional resource for Service League in gaining contributions for the BTSS, Basic for Babies, Basic Necessities, and Teens for Independent Living. |

President's Message: Courtney Peirce
This was Courtney's message in the program booklet from the Big Blue Bash, and we wanted to share it with all of our newsletter recipients as well!

"I was taught that the world had a lot of problems; that I could struggle and change them; that intellectual and material gifts brought the privilege and responsibility of sharing with others less fortunate; and that service is the rent each of us pays for living -- the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time or after you have reached your personal goals". - Marian Wright Edelman
Welcome to the Big Blue Bash. Our donors, members and community have been brought together this evening to support the children of Brown County. The needs are great....but so is the generosity.
Everyone in this room has consciously decided that with their time, talents and resources that they wanted to make a difference for the community we live in and the children of Brown County.
And while we recognize that there so many worthwhile causes, we feel sincerely grateful that you - our sponsors, friends and members - have chosen to support our organization and this year's Big Blue Bash. Although you may never personally know all the lives you impacted - please know what a tremendous impact you have made. Working together we have made a difference in the lives of:
- 2,900 children who had a back pack full of school supplies
- 1,352 children wearing a new outfit and shoes for first day of school
- 113 babies that were given sleepers, blankets, diapers and hats that we purchased together thru our Basics for Babies Program
- 18 teenagers who had aged out of foster care - received a complete apartment kit to start their independent life from our Teens for Independent Giving Program
- 102 Encompass children who were given Christmas from our Giving Tree Program
- Over 1500 individuals shopped our annual Rummage Sale.
- School children throughout Brown County continue to receive sweatpants, mittens/gloves and other basic items through our Basic Necessities for School Age Children program.
It is an honor to know and work with you. I am grateful for all that you do to better Service League, our community and the children in it! Thank you - thank you - Thank you!
Very Truly Yours,
Courtney Peirce |
Special Feature: Service League and the Big Event for Little Kids
Service League of Green Bay will once again be participating at the Big Event For Little Kids (BELK) on Saturday April 6, 2013 at Shopko Hall. Each year, Encompass Early Education Care, Inc. partners with various local business and organizations to put on this wonderful event for kids and their families. Everyone in attendance can explore the many fun filled activity booths that fill Shopko Hall, as well as enjoy hours of live entertainment and costumed characters!
Each year Service League members organize and run two booths at the Big Event For Little Kids: the Adopt-a-Friend booth, and the Book Booth. The Adopt-a-Friend booth is made up of gently used and cleaned stuffed animals that can be purchased. Kids can pick out any stuffed animal they like, and complete an adoption certificate to take home with their new "friend"! The Book Booth has gently used books for every age that can be purchased. The prices are family friendly and all proceeds go to support Encompass Early Education Care, Inc.
