Project Profile: Teens for Independent Living
The Teens for Independent Living Program is one that Service League of Green Bay helps support through Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin. Each year, teenagers throughout Brown County turn 18 years of age and no longer qualify for foster family living. Being a teenager and responsible for living on your own is a daunting transition to make. That is why the members of Service League help several of these individuals during this transitional stage.
We strive to provide household items for approximately 18 teens each year, who are leaving foster care and transitioning to living on their own. Items in each of our 'apartment kits' include: a set of sheets, comforter, pillows, blankets, towels, bath mats, shower curtains, plates, silver ware, kitchen knives, cups, strainers, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, oven mitts, kitchen towels, and a brand new vacuum.
If you would like more information on this program or would like to find out how you can help, please email us at serviceleaguegb@yahoo.com. |

Save the Date: Big Blue Bash is Almost Here!
Service League's biggest fundraiser is quickly approaching, and we want you to save the date! This year's Big Blue Bash will take place on Saturday March 3, 2012 from 5:30pm to 11:00pm in the 3 Clans Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center.
Service League's Big Blue Bash is our main fundraiser that takes place every year. The money we raise at this event goes towards funding our Back to School Store, and various other Service League projects such as our Basic Necessities, Basics for Babies and Teens for Independent Living programs. Every Service League project is near and dear to each member's heart so as a group we put a great deal of time and effort into making this evening very special for all in attendance. Last year's Big Blue Bash allowed us to raise more than $80,000!
This year we are very excited to have Mike Gherity back to play the piano throughout the night, and Paul Evansen to emcee the entire evening. The event will once again feature a delicious plated dinner, a silent and a live auction, and several other fun and exciting features. Keep an eye out for the February electronic newsletter which will contain all the detail you are looking for and more!
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our title sponsors this year, Prevea, Element Creative and DeLeers Construction! Without you, this event would not be what it is today and for that we extend our deepest gratitude. For more information, please visit our website at www.serviceleaguegb.org, keep an eye out for the February electronic Newsletter, and be sure to check our Service League Facebook for updates and highlights about the Big Blue Bash. We look forward to seeing you there dressed in blue! |
Thank you all for your continued support of Service League and all we do. Your dedication to our organization and our mission is what makes it all possible. Warm wishes from all of us at Service League!
Sincerely,
|
