Eucharist, refreshments on arizona highway

We celebrate the Eucharist at 10:00. In the gospel, Jesus tells the people at a dinner to "invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind." What would it look like if Grace did that?

After the Eucharist, we gather for refreshments.

Watch Battle for Brooklyn

Tomorrow night (Friday), Resurrected Life Community Church will host a screening of Battle for Brooklyn. All are welcome.

From the publicity notice: "The movie is an epic tale of how far a community will go to protect their homes and livelihoods from the private developers who want to tear it all down and build a basketball arena. The event is free and open to the public. After the documentary we will discuss the lessons we learned from the movie and how we can fight to protect our communities and our people. Click here to watch a trailer of the documentary."

Here are the details: Friday, August 30, 7:30 pm; Resurrected Life Community Church, Academy Building; 914 Turner St. Allentown, PA 18102.

Faith in Action
Check out today's paper

There's a letter to the editor in today's Morning Call from parishioner Addison B. He is also active on the diocesan Peace Commission--his voice is a consistent call to learn and practice nonviolence.
Caring for our Building
Can you help on a September Saturday?

Several maintenance projects need doing, and there is a sign-up sheet in the hall. Please check it when you are at church and see how you can assist. People will likely work on Saturday, September 7 and/or Saturday, September 15. Check with Chuck M for more info.

Grace has no paid maintenance staff, so volunteer support is essential to keep our building working, clean, and safe for all who use it (children and teachers in our school, GED students, NA participants, Project IMPACT volunteers and families, pantry guests, church members and visitors).
Pantry Fundraiser

Let's go to Louie's

When anyone goes to Louie's Restaurant September 15-19 and presents a special flyer, the restaurant will donate 20% of the food bill to Grace Community Foundation. Patrons can eat in or take out. The pantry is grateful for this support.

Flyers are available at church and in the pantry. Click here for more info on the restaurant (2071 31st Street SW, Allentown).

The pantry uses the money to buy food for clients and to pay administrative costs. It serves about 325 households each month in the 18102 zip code.
Midday Quiet Prayer

We hope to start in September

The vestry and other parishioners plan to begin hosting a daily midday prayer service later in September. A group will gather this Tuesday at church to continue the preparation.

The plan is to have the church open every day at lunch time and welcome downtown neighbors and workers to a place and time of quiet prayer.
