Sunday, August 18, at Grace
Eucharist, refreshments bread and wine

We celebrate the Eucharist at 10:00. In the gospel, we hear these words from Jesus: "Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!" What do you make of these words?

After the Eucharist, we gather for refreshments.

It's this Sunday

Grace has participated in the Pride in the Park festival for many years, and this year we will again join with six other Episcopal parishes to sponsor and staff a booth there. The festival is this Sunday, August 18, at Cedar Beach.

Showing up every year is a consistent witness to our Christian commitment to treat each person as our neighbor, especially people who have been discriminated against and demeaned or worse.

Ethel Gibbon and Beth Reed will greet festival goers, engage them in conversation as they are willing, and distribute literature. We will try to embody what the banner over the booth proclaims: The Episcopal Church Welcomes You!

Recovery is a long process

The We Do Recover home group meets in Grace's multipurpose room every Tuesday night at 7:00. This week, more than 50 people participated.

People at the meeting welcome newcomers, read selections from 12-step materials, and listen to each other's stories. They tell of their reliance on a Higher Power and their growth as they have tried to base their lives on spiritual principles. The meeting is holy ground.

Each meeting begins and ends with the Serenity Prayer: "God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Tuesday nights there is a whole lot of grace embodied at Grace.
Parish Picnic
It was great fun!

More than 30 people of Grace enjoyed a lovely evening last Sunday at the Denton-Borhaug home in Coopersburg. Kids swam and ran around, grown-ups played croquet and sat and talked. The setting and the food and drink let us visit with each other in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Many thanks to the D-B household for hosting!

Book Group
On the road camino

Some parishioners have been gathering in the summer for at least eight years to enjoy reading a book together and talking about it, and eating and drinking while we do those things.

The book we are reading now is Pilgrim Stories: On and Off the Road to Santiago, by Nancy Louise Frey.

We will meet next on August 25 and September 8 and 15, and all are welcome! For more information, contact Mary Louise B.
