Sunday, June 16, at Grace
| |
Forum, Eucharist, refreshments
At 9:00, we'll meet for our sixth session on the prophets (in the multipurpose room downstairs). We celebrate the Eucharist at 10:00. The gospel gives us the story of a woman who washes Jesus' feet with her tears and dries them with her hair. The people at the dinner table were scandalized--but Jesus wasn't.
After the Eucharist, we gather for refreshments.

On June 23 and 30, the group will gather for further discussion of the topics and questions they've raised.

More Art in Allentown | | Visit Art in the Park this Saturday
A juried exhibition will be set up this Saturday, June 15, in West Park, sponsored by the West Park Civic Association. There will be more than 80 artisans, as well as music, food, and dance. The park is bounded by Linden and Turner Streets and 15th and 16th Streets.
Parishioners at Church of the Mediator (next to the park) will be selling food, having a rummage sale, and doing other activities--one more sign of a church with a vital presence in the city! Mediator's activities will occur during Sunday's West Park House Tour, as well.

Grace Montessori School | | The year is finished!
Our school held its annual recognition ceremony Thursday morning at the cathedral in Bethlehem. Children, parents, teachers, staff, our priest, and vestry liaisons participated.
GMS celebrates 20 years helping children in Allentown this year. To mark the anniversary, former parishioner Cathy Constatin-Reid, the founder of the school, was on hand to offer remarks and share in the celebration. She talked about "possibilities"--she encouraged the children to think about their possibilities. She challenged the parents to model imagining their own (grown-up) possibilities so the children see that as a life-long endeavor. She counseled that if you have what seems to be a crazy or outrageous idea, say it out loud and gather a community of support to help you refine it and possibly bring it to reality--she noted that's what she and others did to help Grace Montessori get started!
