Sunday, December 16, at Grace
welcome word
Eucharist, refreshments, vestry meeting

We celebrate the Eucharist at 10:00; it's the Third Sunday of Advent. Again this week we hear words of John the Baptizer.

After refreshments, the vestry will meet in the conference room downstairs. All parishioners are welcome to attend.
Advent Evening Prayer
candlelight
Come on Wednesdays for some calm

Wednesday evenings in Advent we are gathering in church at 5:30 for a service of evening prayer. It is simple, quiet, contemplative, and our doors are open to the neighborhood.

In the midst of dark December, we anticipate the rising of the Morning Star that never sets.

Would you like to see a midweek service like this at other times of the year? A simple supper in conjunction with a time of prayer? Do you have ideas on welcoming newcomers through this door? Please share any responses with a vestry member or the priest.
Preparing for Christmas Decorating

Come gather the greenery

Tomorrow, (Saturday, December 15), Chuck M is coordinating a group to go to the Cousarts' house in Zionsville to gather some greens from downed trees on their property. We'll use them to adorn our wreath in church for the Christmas season. Please let Chuck know if you can help.

In past years, we've purchased a tree and cut off branches into little bits for the wreath. This year we are grateful for donated greens, and for the the expertise of a newcomer who is an interior designer with good ideas for turning them into a wreath!
Colorful Cookies

We welcomed new neighbors

At our September 30 parish meeting, when we were imagining how our building could be used in the neighborhood, someone said "I see neighborhood children baking cookies downstairs." Hillie C and Bev R made it happen last night, with the help of Kathy Y, George R, and Barbara S.

We welcomed people from Nepal who are Bev's students, as well as some people who saw the sign outside when they were walking by and came in to join the fun.
Greening the Church for Christmas
Please stay next Sunday

The greening of the church is next Sunday, Dec. 23, after the Eucharist. Please stay and help prepare the church building for Christmas! People who have done this for years and newcomers alike have said what a fun and rewarding activity this is--we get to work together, John and other musicians play and sing carols while we work, and as we transform the space, we may find ourselves a bit transformed as well--into a dwelling place for God.

Here's a photo from last year.
