Season's Greetings!

Zachary Garmoe took these wonderful portraits of staff, family members, and persons served at our recent Friends and Family Thanksgiving Lunch. Zach's mother Cindy told Arundel Lodge NEWS, "Zach has been coming to events at Arundel Lodge since he was 7 or 8 years old, the first time I worked here. I had him help serve food for parties.  He loves it here!" Thanks for these photos, Zach!

We at Arundel Lodge are grateful for the people we serve, their families and friends, our staff, our volunteers, and our board members. We are grateful for the wider community that supports Arundel Lodge and makes our work possible.

As the weather turns cold, we think of family, friends, home, and the many connections that make life meaningful. Thank you for being a friend to Arundel Lodge and the growing circle of persons we serve.

The need for comprehensive behavioral health services in Anne Arundel County is pressing.

We are determined to meet the challenge, expanding our capacity to serve more persons, using state-of-the-art methods.

We've learned a lot about what works. To begin with, respect each person. Look at each person's strengths. Create a caring community. Be hopeful.

It works to treat the whole person. In October, we were approved as a health home, one of the first in Maryland. That means we can treat both behavioral and somatic health concerns.

It works to respond the same day. In 2013, we became the first agency in Maryland to provide same-day access when someone needs behavioral health care.

In 2014, we'll continue to pay for start-up costs for the initiatives of 2013. It takes more staff to provide whole-health coordination and same-day clinic access.

Eventually, these costs will be covered by Medicaid and other reimbursements, but until then, we carry the expense. We think it is worth the trouble. We hope you think so, too.

Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to Arundel Lodge, Inc. We are counting on our friends to meet the needs of the growing circle of persons we serve.
