Nothing in my life that is of value has come without some sort of struggle. It sounds like a sob story, but my point is that appearances are often deceiving. The things in my life that rest on solid ground have taken hard work, including my beautiful husband, my beautiful sweet puppy, my relationships, and my career.
The agony and heartache, the struggle and obstacles seem endless at times. And I think, "will it ever get better?" It's an everyday choice for me. Not a one time solution, but a constant letting go, re-evaluating, and choosing the highest road -- the path that most promotes a life full of love. The reward is something better than I ever could have imagined many years ago. A life with purpose, a partner who gets it, and work that truly fulfills.
Now for the things that DON'T rest on anything but a gray line, a threshold of uncertainty and an uneven ground. That's where it can feel scary; that's when anxiety can gnaw at the soul.
What if you could be WITH it. To pause and realize that Everything has a solution. What if we can be calm enough, quiet enough, to know there will be an outcome, and quite possibly a good one. It might not come WHEN we want it, but it will come. What if we could trust that we have come this far, so why would be led astray now? Trust and let go, trust and let go. My new mantra.
Keep that chin up my friends.

Stay aligned with the summer vibe!
|
The fire element is associated with summer, a season of heat and often happy, more carefree events and emotions. The openness it fosters also can increase our ability to feel and express joy.
Fire is symbolic of maximum activity or greatest yang, which means it is a time of heat, outgoingness, and moving outward in nature and in our lives. In human anatomy, the heart, mind, and spirit are ruled by the fire element. Thus, top priority should be given to the heart, mind, and spirit for staying healthy in summer. Take time to nourish and pacify your spirit, and to realize life's greatest potential.
But fire, like all elements, needs to be kept in perspective. Too much fire can lead to destructive pursuits to sustain the "high" of the fire. Indicators of an imbalance in the fire element include agitation, nervousness, heartburn, and insomnia. We may either lack joy (depression) or have an excess of joy (mania).
When the fire element is in balance, the heart is strong and healthy, the mind is calm and sleep is sound.
10 Tips to Help You Stay Aligned with the Summer Vibe!
- Awaken earlier in the morning; go to bed later in the evening; rest at midday.
- Drink plenty of fluids. Sip lemon or cucumber water throughout the day.
- Refrain from anger; keep calm and even-tempered.
- Engage in cooling activities, like massage, swimming, and staying indoors during the heat of the day.
- Eat cooling foods like mint, cucumber, pear, banana, strawberry, yogurt, lettuce, and zucchini.
- Add pungent flavors to your diet. Use spices such as marjoram and tumeric.
- Eat in moderation. Over consumption of any food, especially cooling foods, can lead to indigestion, sluggishness, and possibly diarrhea.
- Do not leave your food out for too long. The hot weather tends to increase food spoilage.
- Avoid dairy, heavy, greasy, and fried foods.
- Consider an acupuncture session to bring your Qi in alignment.
