Desire is a funny thing. When we want something so badly it often feels like we have to grow in to it. Like a pair of jeans that don't quite fit. Once we have what we want, we forget how badly we wanted it in the first place. The jeans now fit and somehow become a part of us. And we walk the streets with a lithe in our step. That process always fascinates me.
Why are we wired to want and want and then forget the pain of what it felt like not to have it? Sometimes even taking for granted what we finally have. Perhaps on some level we have to work through the insatiable avarice we have as humans. And when we reform this part of us, the Universe rewards us with a gift, only to then ignite our next desire. Tricky.
The Buddhists say to relinquish all desire. I say welcome it. Embrace it. But perhaps learning to let go of the outcome tempers our human greed for more. Not so easy I know. Perhaps having a goal is good and at the same time trying not to worry too much about whether it happens or not. Wow, that sure does take the pressure off.
Life has already shown me the world doesn't necessarily owe me anything. Goals are great, and they can help us focus our efforts toward doing and being better. But maybe the key is to focus on having them remain goals and not turning them into expectations. This could be one of the hardest tasks in life!
What if our purpose or goal could be like cutting along the grain of wood and swimming along the flow of current? Adhering to these natural laws as we set goals could allow us to get things done more easily and with less resistance.
The net result is achieving more by doing less. It makes life less complicated, yet more fulfilled.
Try it on. See what unfolds.

Pangu Shengong Weekend with Master Ou
|
Master Ou returns to Raleigh in March!
The Bottom Line from Anisha My husband Paul once asked Master Ou in an interview, "If you had one statement you could make to all people on how to best achieve good health and happiness, what would it be?"
He expected him to reply something to the effect that we should all learn his Qi Gong and practice it. Instead, what Master Ou said was: "Work at being kinder and more loving every day." So simple and so true. That's the bottom line. Kindness and love help us to be more tolerant, lowering resistance to the flow of Qi, and broadening our hearts, so we may receive the broadest possible flow from the Universe.
Meet Master Ou For four days in March, Master Ou brings his energy and wisdom to Raleigh, holding private healing sessions, group classes, and more.
