June 2013

I have been pondering quite a bit lately about this idea of intention. In our new age culture, there is a commonly held belief that intention heals and furthers evolution. One question that seems worth asking is, after a series of intentions, how much is different? If it was that simple we would all be happy, healthy, abundantly rich, and blissfully in love.

Often, our intentions can be powerful, but the power (Life Force) behind them is low or absent. This is like broadcasting a signal that does not reach its receiver. Without a "power source," it's like having a really nice, shiny car with all the beautiful parts . . . and no gas in the tank.

The negative aspects of our character or the struggles in our life cannot be simply eliminated with a thought. There are no short cuts. So how can we change and move forward without gas in our cars? The simple answer:  put some gas in your car!

So you might ask, "How do I get gas in my car?"

Well, the much slower way of doing this is by resting, eating a healthy diet, and engaging in rejuvenating activities. In the world we live in, however, our bodies are so taxed that doing these simple things to stay healthy really keeps us status quo with no real journey forward.

Flow of energy The faster way? Start cultivating and building your Life Force or Qi. Qi Gong is a simple practice of breath and movement that stores positive healing energy and replaces the negative cells, thoughts, memories, and experiences. Pangu Shengong in particular goes deeper than any style I have come across, to the very core of the soul, healing deep illnesses both physical and emotional.

For those who live a life of service, how much life force do you have to support the giving you really want to do, without depleting yourself? If your practice or business is not as busy as you'd like it to be, or if at the end of the day you're feeling agitated, exhausted, emotionally disengaged, achy, and stiff, or experience frequent injuries, these are all often signs of low or depleted life force.

The only way to the other side is to experience the struggle first -- the awareness of it -- and then allowing the shift of energy of the struggle, belief, or behavior.  When a more positive and healthy vibration builds inside, the scales begin to tip. The healing, life-promoting energy starts to "win" and be absorbed through the practice.  This allows for a positive evolution in to a state of true partnership with Universal energy.

Connect to your heart energy with Pangu Yoga

In the words of a student

Golden rays of light

After 6 years of practicing Pangu and teaching yoga and Qi Gong, I am thrilled with the newest addition to the Pangu family: Pangu Yoga.

I love the beauty and grace that flows through the practice. It's evident that the true healing power of Master Ou's original Qi Gong form is infused in the practice, as well as the therapeutic benefits I've become accustomed to from yoga.

I can feel the energy running through me as I work my way through the sequence, and I feel both refreshed and invigorated upon completion. Master Ou and Anisha Desai Fraser have created a fantastic fusion of Qi Gong and yoga, and I feel blessed to have this practice in my life.

Fire Element:  In and Out of Balance

Summer is officially underway, and with it comes its warmth and abundance. The sun is shining, and it's time to be out and about, to visit with friends, go to concerts and cookouts, enjoy the weather, and share the fun of this season with others. It's the time of year when the Fire Element takes center stage, and acupuncture treatments focus on balancing this element.

The Fire Element is the element of love and all affairs of the heart. In Five Element Acupuncture, the fire of the heart represents our relationship to ourselves and to others. It governs our ability to share joy, love, and warmth with our friends, colleagues, intimate partners, and even enjoy a feeling of oneness with the entire human race. When the sun is burning the brightest, we are invited to celebrate this same bursting energy and guiding light inside ourselves.

Fire Element In Balance
The best way to understand the fire element is to picture a campfire at the center of a summer barbeque party. When the fire is in balance, it is warm, glowing and inviting. People are drawn to its radiance and gather around it. Here are examples of Fire Element in balance:

~Ability to give and receive love
~Ability to communicate clearly and resolve conflicts
~Joy, play, freedom
~Satisfaction with intimacy and relationships
~Trust
~Clear boundaries
~Clear speech
~Enthusiasm
~Maturity
~Passion.

Fire Element Out of Balance
Now picture that same campfire once it has started to die out. The once glowing flames become fading embers without a spark. As the lifeblood of the party diminishes, the guests begin to feel cold, and disperse. This explains what happens if the fire element becomes depleted in a person. Without the spark of the fire element to ignite the heart, one can become  flat, lifeless, isolated, cold, anxious, lonely, and depressed.

Now imagine that same fire blazing out of control. As flames spill over the pit's boundary, party guests run away to protect themselves. Likewise, a person with an excessive Fire Element may appear overwhelming and out of control, excessively seeking attention, while laughing loudly and inappropriately, meanwhile, scaring people away. Here are some examples of Fire Element out of balance.

Fire Element Out of Balance
~Extreme anxiety or palpitations
~Depression from loss of spark
~Feeling that one's heart is not at the helm
~Insomnia
~Apathy or hopelessness
~Attempts to control self or others
~Lack of boundaries
~Dissatisfaction with intimate relationships
~Flatness, dullness
~Loneliness, isolation
~Inability to be vulnerable or let love into the heart
~Inability to trust appropriately
~Excessive vulnerability, no protection, constant heartbreak
~Hot-flashes
~Skin eruptions
~Blood and circulatory disorders
~Heart disease
~Neck and shoulder pain
~Excessive or deficient sexual energy, sexual dysfunction.

It's important to remember that these, and any symptom of an element out of balance, can be shifted with acupuncture, so that the virtues of the element in balance can be enjoyed.

If you are experiencing challenges in any of these areas, consider contacting Anisha at 919.389.1420 or email to schedule an Acupuncture session!
Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us.
