What SMV teacher will appear in the game show Jeopardy in 2014?

The answer is Who is Mr. Falk!

Congratulations to Mr. Falk who will appear in Jeopardy's Battle of the Decades. Last time he appeared was 2006. Please wish him well. We will be planning a great send off. Stay tuned for details.

Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 23. The 7th and 8th grades will be leading us in the Living Rosary with a special outdoor visual aid of biodegradable balloons. We will start at 1:45 p.m. on the playground. Don't miss it!

Friday, October 25 is our annual Spooks and Spoofs celebration. This is a Halloween party for all ages. Come and enjoy the evening with your SMV friends. If you are new to the school, you don't want to miss this. It is a wonderful Halloween event.

On Saturday, October 26 we will be hosting a Quiz Bowl tournament with 18 teams coming to compete.

Our students have been working very hard on the Talent Show. Come see the awesome talent that we have at SMV. See you on Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m.

I want to let you know that I will be out of the building on Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16. I will be co-chairing an accreditation team at St. Charles in Burlington.

Faithfully,

Trivia Night

The teachers did it again! They were the winners of this year's Trivia Night. Congratulations!! And who knew those Duck Dynasty guys were so smart. They came in 2nd place. The winners of the table theme contest were the characters of the classic board game "Clue". They were impressively appointed with "weapons" and all! Thanks so much to all those who helped to set up and, especially, clean up. Thanks to Therese Pickart and David Winkler for helping the night run smoothly again this year. And last, but never least, many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Falk. The event would not be possible without them. We are so fortunate here at SMV to have such dedicated people!!

Those of you who took pictures, could you please send some on to Home & School. Thanks again! Until next year...Chris and Mary Kay Zukowski

Magazine DriveMagazine Drive

The Magazine Drive is Officially Over. The kids really loved the monkeys and all of the craziness that went along with it. I want to thank all of the families for participating in this fraiser. We had record high participation. Our initial numbers indicate that we have met our goal, actual numbers will be forthcoming. The winner of the limo lunch to Marty's pizza goes to Mrs. Biernat's eighth grade homeroom with 100% participation ! There was a tie for the pizza lunch with 86% participation going to Mrs. Navarette's classroom and Mrs. Trainor's classroom. Both Mrs. Smrz and Mr. Cobb won the ice cream party with 87% participation!

Individual prizes will be awarded at the magazine drive assembly.
