"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into his grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:1-5
Participant Spotlight: Shelley Lane

This month we are pleased to shine the spotlight on Shelley Lane. Shelley is a true example of a person who doesn't allow barriers to hold her back. Not only is she a strong advocate for herself and others with disabilities, but she is involved in numerous activities that give back to the community.

In 2003, shortly after graduating from high school, Shelley began volunteering at Baptist Health where she does date entry. As depicted in the photo, Shelley utilizes a tool that allows her to type in the data with a headband. She has been volunteering with Baptist Health for 12 years, serving over 1,000 hours.

Shelley has also been with God's pantry for three years, where she cuts labels for bulk food packages. Apart from those activities, she is assisting a dear friend with opening up an organization called AIM, with the goal of building inclusion for others. Shelley is on the Board of Directors and has held engagements at elementary schools, where she has spoken with the students about living with a disability.

Shelley has added invaluable heart and courage to others who face similar challenges. Her determination is an influence for all who have met her.

Employee Appreciation Banquet

Lord's Legacy would like to thank everyone who attended the Staff Banquet. We are truly blessed to have such dedicated and hardworking team members. We'd like to congratulate Bintou Bojang and Kimi Sailo, the recipients of the Heart of a Mader and The Legacy Award respectively.

In case you missed it, here is a video depicting how Lord's Legacy leaderships feels about getting to work every day with our star-powered Direct Support Professionals.

Pre-prom Party

LLM will be hosting our annual Pre-Prom Party on November 6th from 3:00PM-5:30PM. There will be stylists available to help with make-up, hair, and nails.

To RSVP for the pre-prom and the limo bus, which is first come, first serve, please contact Meg at Megann@lordslegacyministries.org

Lord's Legacy is not responsible for participants once they arrive to the prom. The actual prom is not an LLM facilitated event. Families will need to work out arrangements for when the party bus arrives to Southland Christian Church.

Holding Grace - A Blog from the Heart

"One of the main reasons that we lose our enthusiasm in life is because we become ungrateful..we let what was once a miracle become common to us. We get so accustomed to his goodness it becomes a routine.."  - Joel Osteen

Thankfulness is more than an action. Thankfulness has a lot to do with what we recognize. It has been said that you can find good, even if it's hidden, in anything. Before we sit down to eat turkey, and put ourselves in that food coma that we all seem to love, take time to answer some questions from your heart. Ask yourself questions that maybe you have thought about, but haven't had a chance to truly answer. Why are you thankful for Jesus? Can you see His goodness everyday in your life? Dig deep and make a list of areas in your life that you desire to give Him more access to. Could it be a relationship? How about a dream or desire? Is there a financial obligation that you need His supernatural intervention for? A hurt? Take time this holiday to open up your heart to Jesus in risky ways! Nothing is too big, or too small for our God!

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:20

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Let Israel say, "His steadfast love endures forever." Let the house of Aaron say, "His steadfast love endures forever." Let those who fear the Lord say, "His steadfast love endures forever." Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.

Grateful,
Meg Lilley

LLM Presents: Catherine Fackler

A woman of many skills and much love, Catherine Fackler recently came to LLM to work in the Residential department. Her heart to serve has led to strong relationships with the participants and she has become a trusted member of the LLM team.

Catherine came to LLM after hearing about employment opportunities through her CNA class. Currently pursuing her degree in nursing, Catherine sought to dedicate herself to a relevant field, while being able to enhance the lives of others.

Since a young girl, Catherine desired to be a nurse, but her love of reading and writing led her to first obtain her degree in English.

In her free time, Catherine enjoys reading and writing, jogging, and watching Netflix. Cat's favorite part about working at Lord's Legacy is developing relationships with the ladies in her house and having fun with them.

Supervisor, Courtney Clark, said that "Catherine is incredible, thorough, efficient, organized, and kind. She loves our participants well and always goes above and beyond."
Thanksgiving Potluck

On November 24th, from 12PM-2PM, LLM will be hosting our Thanksgiving potluck at LLM's ADT. This will be a time to share good food, great conversation, and reflect on all we are thankful for. If you would like to bring a dish, please contact Meg at megann@lordslegacyministries.org. All staff and participants are welcome to join us.

Remember, the offices and the Center will be closed on the 26th. On Friday the 27th, the Day Training Center will be open; however the administrative offices will be closed.
