"But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside." Job 23:10-11

Participant Spotlight: Clark Wimpy

Few things reflect the glory of Christ more than the daily commitment to those we love, and this picture is displayed beautifully in the Wimpy family. Becky and Lester Wimpy have cared for their son Clark for over 25 years and the gentleness and compassion that comes from thinking of others more than yourself is astounding. For 25 years they had not had a vacation for themselves as husband and wife, and for 25 years Clark had not spent time away from the people he loves the most. It was no small feat for Clark to have a week without them, while his parents went on vacation to Hawaii. He embraced the independence and responsibility and assisted staff with providing him excellent care. Many times throughout the week he talked about how he missed his parents, but how good it felt to display independence even in their absence. Lord's Legacy is so proud of Clark for his independence and joy while his parents went on vacation.

LLM Easter Brunch

John Robert: The Story of a World Changer

For those of you who have journeyed with us for some time, you may remember a recent guest who quickly became part of the LLM family. John Robert landed in America from Haiti for the first time in August with the goal of obtaining a degree in Business Administration. After graduating he will return to Haiti and use his education, degree, and faith to reform the country.

Thanks to your support, John Robert has completed his first semester of college at Kentucky Christian University, and is well into the second. He is taking a hefty 18 credit hours and during his time out of the classroom is building an impressive reputation on the soccer field.

Heather Goodwill, a dear friend to John Robert, is still garnering support so that the funding does not run out for him to continue his education. In one of her emails updating those who support him, she said, "It is my sincere prayer that we never grow weary of chasing after the dreams He [God] has set before us..." Our dreams can not exist in isolation, God did not design them that way, so we ask that you become another stepping stone for John Robert to rise above the barriers set before him to change his nation.

We are still $1,152 short of fully funding John Robert's first year in the United States. Bring dreams to life HERE

LLM Presents: Kati Wilson

We are excited to present to you Kati Wilson, DSP extraordinaire. Kati's supervisors have recognized her for outstanding all around supports and a deeply compassionate heart for those she serves. Kati's life is a testimony of the genuine care she has for others.

Kati grew up in Somerset, KY and went to Georgetown University where she received a degree in Economics and Sociology. Kati's heart is to serve in the mission-field. She has been to Guatemala where she has worked in a church, an orphanage, taught English, and went on medical trips. When asking what Kati's favorite part about serving at LLM was, she said, "I don't know, there are so many...probably just seeing my participants smile while doing something out in the community." When speaking with Kati we also discovered that she has a strong dislike for chocolate and peanut butter, which is difficult for us to comprehend. Kati enjoys playing tennis in her free time.

LLM is so very grateful for Kati and the wonderful care she has brought to LLM participants.

A Time to Sit and Listen

"So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord - who is the Spirit - makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image." - 2 Cor. 3:18

Goodness, it's the beginning of the year and already I have found myself too busy at times! I love moving, doing and going. I know that Jesus is right there leading and guiding. Recently, however; I have felt the gentle reminder: "It's time to sit and listen."

As a child, story time in school was my favorite time. I loved the imagination behind the teacher reading a story and all the little voices and characters they would include to make the story come to life. I think, often as Christians, we forget that part about our Heavenly Father. A relationship with God makes everything in our life come alive!

I get caught up in the hustle of this and that and don't actually stop to hear God's laugh, or His direction. I haven't made it a habit to sit and listen. In all reality, without His voice leading and guiding us, we are missing out on who God really is!

The verse in 2 Cor. refers to the Old Testament tabernacles of God where the priest would go behind the veil. He would then have to do ceremonial and ritualistic activities to be cleansed and pure to go before the Presence of God. Often times the priests didn't make it into the Presence because of their uncleanliness. Because Jesus has ripped the veil and giving us His Holy Spirit we have the ability to go and sit before God at ANYTIME! Full of sin, shame, all of the mess we live with, we can go to Him at anytime because Jesus took the payment for our sin!!

The other half of the verse tells how He makes us more and more into His glorious image. Everyday we are changed, fashioned to be like Him! I don't know about you, but this makes me want to put some stepping stones in place for me to follow in order to participate with what God is saying that He is going to do in verse 18.

If I were to label the stepping-stones into this transformation God is talking about, I would say, "Sit and Listen" would be their names. Without mediating on God's word and allowing ourselves the time to know Him, we will never come to know that peace that His Presence offers. Out of peace do we live our lives because Jesus Himself is the Prince of Peace.

Much Love,

Meg
