"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9

LLM Presents: Rebecca Cornelius

The services we provide are only as good as the heart of the people God sends to us, and Rebecca is another member of our family whose work has changed lives.

Rebecca has been a consistent friend to LLM participants for over four years. Her favorite part about being a member of our team is being with the participants and families. She is thankful to have a strong support system of staff to go to if she needs prayer and support.

In her free time, Rebecca enjoys watching movies, playing board games with her family, and knitting. Rebecca is always a positive, refreshing face to see around the office. If you see her, thank her for all the incredible work she has done.

New Kids on the Block, Again

It is with much anticipation that we are announcing the opening of our new residential home. The beautiful home features on open concept that allows for ample wheelchair accessibility, vaulted ceilings, two full bathrooms, and a great neighborhood.

The home is currently open to male participants who would like to visit the home for temporary respite. If you are interested in this service please contact Jamie Robinson at Jamie@lordslegacyministries.org.

Giving Grace

Giving Grace is a companion of our Holding Grace ministry with an emphasis on giving back to the community. Throughout the year, we will be doing various outreaches that will in someway benefit others through the provision of items or needed services. Be sure to look for these opportunities to give in your inboxes and in future newsletters. Already, because of your support, LLM has had the privilege of donating winter clothes to LightHouse Ministries to help individuals who would have otherwise not had appropriate clothing to protect them from the weather.

If you have any questions regarding Holding or Giving Grace, and our mission, please contact Meg at Megann@lordslegacyministries.org

Holding Grace - A Blog from the Heart
The Love of the Father

"If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn't love others, I would have gained nothing." 1 Cor. 13:3

Some homes will never know the beauty of the love that is meant to fill their walls. I grew up in a wonderful home. One of my most recalled memories of my parent's love was as a pre-teen when coming home from school one day. I had a window seat on the bus so I could see when I was getting close. I saw my dad standing in the yard, behind what I thought for sure wasn't mine. I knew that was what I had picked out though. The matching helmet couldn't be someone else's...that had to be mine. The look in my dad's eyes when I ran off the bus to greet him standing behind the bike I had begged my parents for told me...it was mine! I thanked my parents, told them how much I loved them, and off I went. I love recalling this memory of my parents love, not because they bought me what I wanted, but because of their excitement to see my face as I saw my gift for the very first time.

I like to look at our Heavenly Father in a very similar light. Jesus, the Son of God died for every single human on the planet. He died knowing that His gift to all of Humanity would be an eternity filled with love, acceptance, freedom, and wholeness with God the Father. Jesus experienced this love; he wanted the whole world to be able to share in this miracle. Just like my eyes filled with tears of joy over the fact that my parents would care enough to prepare a gift for me, the Father prepares each day as a gift to us.

I am determined this year to make it a year of seizing every single day as a gift from the Love of the Father! Not to get His love, but living from knowing how much He loves His children!

Maybe your childhood wasn't filled with beautiful acts of love. Maybe you've never even heard the word love in your home. I have learned that God loves to turn ugliness into beauty. He loves to take something that is lacking and fill it overflowing with His fullness! Sometimes, all it comes down to is a simple surrender. A simple prayer of surrender saying, "God, I give you my version of love. I ask you to transform the way I see, give and receive love into your perfect truth and perception of love. Take my way and make it yours." Amen.

"Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." 1 Cor. 13:4-7

Much Love,

Meg

Walk for Warmth

Our February 28th we will be taking to the streets to support Walk for Warmth. Walk for Warmth is an event facilitated through the Lexington Rescue Mission where money is raised to provide emergency financial assistance for households facing eviction or utility shutdown. The purpose of the event is to help prevent the individuals in these households from becoming homeless. For every $100 raised, a family will be kept off the streets in Lexington.

The Walk for Warmth will take place on Saturday, February 28th, starting at Phoenix Park and ending at Calvary Baptist Church. Flyers and postcards, pledge forms, and online event registration are all available online at www.walkforwarmth.org.

New Community Supports Manager takes CS Office to New Heights

At 6' 8", when Adam first entered his new office he had to duck under the threshold. For those already thinking it, he is a basketball player, but it wasn't just for his athletic ability that we hired him.

Adam Satterfield grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky. He came to the Lexington area to play basketball at Asbury and, after being inspired by his sister's career, pursued a degree in Social Work. Since then, God has taken him on a journey that eventually led him through the doors of LLM. From first meeting him, it was apparent that Adam had a heart for service and a love of Christ.

Adam is looking forward to getting to know the participants, and is excited to learn much from spending time with them. In his free time Adam enjoys hanging out with friends and reading.
