"Without absolutes revealed from without by God Himself, we are left rudderless in a sea of conflicting ideas about manners, justice and right and wrong, issuing from a
multitude of self-opinionated thinkers." -John Owen

"And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven..." Colossians 1: 21-23

Participant Spotlight: Wilson Beebe

Wilson Beebe: Those of you who know him are forever blessed, and those of you who don't, well, there is only one Wilson and he brings joy to the hearts of all.

Wilson has been with LLM for over four years. He describes himself as a hard-worker and a lover of spending time with people. He is currently employed at KVC Behavioral Health where he takes care of a therapy dog, does computer work, and washes windows, among other tasks. In his free time Wilson enjoys trying new foods and exploring new places. He has a special interest in law enforcement and a pretty impressive arrest record.

Wilson's favorite part about LLM is hanging out with good friends and having a good time. He specifically wants Eric Pope, his long time partner in keeping the peace, to know that he is very hardworking and does a good job.

LLM Presents: Sarah Gan

Sarah Gan is Lord's Legacy's Renaissance Woman. She is a Chemistry major who trains and runs marathons, a wife to an up and coming surgeon, and  a phenomenal Direct Support Professional.

Sarah started with the ministry over the summer. Working full time in the Day Training Center, she was quickly known for her genuineness, work ethic, and ability to make delicious desserts. She came to LLM while searching for a job that had less to do with mixing chemicals in a lab and more to do with serving others and being involved in a community.

Sarah said what she loves most about working with LLM is getting to know all of the participants and their unique stories and goals. She is passionate about helping them have a more fulfilling life through gaining more independent living skills.

Lord's Legacy is blessed to know Sarah and have her work alongside the ministry.
New Growth, New Administrators

As LLM continues to grow (we may slow down someday...maybe), don't be surprised to see new faces in old positions, old faces in new positions, and new faces in new positions. And that's how we like it. We refuse to stop moving because mobility is the enemy of stagnation. The following are the newest inductees to the administrative team.

Mariah Huffman: House Manager

Mariah is a head-banging Master's student with a heart of gold. She was hired into the LLM family in October of 2014. Mariah and her husband came to Lexington from the mountains of West Virginia and have adapted well to big city life. She has a degree in Psychology and is currently fulfilling her passion for assisting those with intellectual and development disabilities.

Dan Ross: Day Training Director

Many of you already know Dan from his outstanding work in the Center. After a few short months, he quickly became known for his integrity and quality of service. We are pleased to announce that he has been promoted to the Day Training Director. While he has big shoes to fill, we have no doubts that his skills as a Direct Support Professional will carry over to this position.

Holding Grace - A Blog from the Heart
Hope has to be chosen

It's about that time to gather around the Christmas tree with hot chocolate, winter clothes, warm smiles and an eagerness of what this season provides. Times with family, friends and loved ones, have a way of lifting spirits and often lessening the load on our shoulders on a daily basis. I want to encourage you, there is hope to be received. However, the choice to receive that hope is ours. Today, I am speaking primarily to those who are feeling hopeless and are in need of hope during this season of holidays. I want to share a few truths that have helped me over time. I have realized that perspective is key to living a life full of hope and moving through tough times.

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life." - Prov. 13:12
I love the image of a tree that is fulfilled with life; a tree that is strong, steady, thriving and full of nourishment. The hope I am talking about here is not just an expectation, or a great idea of, "One day"... Jesus is our hope. According to this verse, we can allow hope to remain in our heart in such a way, that we live out of a healthy place mentally and spiritually. We can live strong, steady and thriving, full of God's word.

Living full of hope is a choice, we have to choose which life and attitude we want for ourselves. Hope doesn't have to do with our circumstances, bills, let downs, promotions... Hope has to do with a constant relationship, and fellowship with our King Jesus. WE can choose every day to allow Him to restore dreams, excitement, and fulfillment in our lives.

So how do we approach these holidays with Jesus being our center and focus? Here are a few things that I am practicing to stay steady, strong, and full of nourishment from God's word! Hope is a choice and choosing against disappointment is possible! Jesus wants us to find our hope, joy and life in Him! Without Him, we are all decaying and lifeless in every aspect.
So here we go:

Hope factor number 1: Matthew 9:29. As hard as it may seem, Choose Faith. Choose to Hope again. When times of stress, complaints or ungratefulness knocks on the door to your heart, Choose Faith. Choose Hope.

Hope factor number 2: Perspective. Often having a narrow perspective can get me so single minded, that I forget that in the midst of the situation, God is working out a bigger plan, I just can't see it and often times don't care to focus on that. Asking for His thoughts, His will to be done, and realizing that I can't figure everything out, takes that pressure of perfection off! Its great and wonderful to know that I don't make His will happen in my life... I walk it out. Walk His will out. This will bring you great Hope and joy!

Hope factor number 3: Help someone that is in more need than you. This truth always helps me regain focus. People need you my friend; people need the Jesus that you know.

My prayer is that during this holiday season, you would allow the Love of God to bring hope, strength and ultimate thankfulness into your heart. I pray that just as you have received hope, you would give that same hope to someone else! Our world needs hope and we were meant to bring that gift to others. You're an answer to someone's hopelessness!

Much Love,
Meg

Four reasons our residential homes are exemplary
It's Good to Give

We are absolutely humbled by the outpouring of donations and encouragement for Lord's Legacy during the GoodGiving Guide Challenge. The challenge is over the halfway point and we have already raised $1,130.

Here are examples of things that your donation dollars go to:
  • Special events such as Celebration Baptism, Christmas Extravaganza, Family Appreciation Summer Picnic, and Pre-Prom Party. These offer our participants special opportunities that otherwise may not have been available.
  • Staff appreciation socials and incentives to encourage a team approach and provide optimum supports.
  • Home furnishing and supplies for our residential homes.
  • Technological devices and supplies to utilize in our Day Training Program.
Please be sure to spread the word to your family and friends about our ministry. If it is on their hearts to donate, you can lead them to this link: LLM GoodGiving Donation Page

Be sure to watch the LLM facebook page for current challenges. The challenges will be the most lucrative time to donate, as the donations are often matched in some way.
