Psalm 57: 7-11
"My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
Awake, my glory
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will wake the dawn!
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the
peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds."
Participant Spotlight: Katina Adamson

Katina (left) with DSP Brianna (right)
Katina has blessed Lord's Legacy with her sweet, fun-loving personality for many years. While attending LLM she has grown in her confidence and independence. Out of these strength, she recently made the decision to move into her own home. This giant step of independence is the reason why she is in the spotlight this month.

While speaking with her father, Gary Adamson about this step he said, "We've been moving towards it for the last couple of years with the help of Lord's Legacy and the owner. We went and checked out the home and saw it was good a fit and worked it to where she could move in." Gary mentioned that this step has allowed her both independence and security for the future.

If you happen to run into Katina be sure to give her a high five and congratulate her on the recent move to both her own home and to independence.

The Eternal Celebration

On September 20th,  before three ladies would take part in one of the most significant acts of their lives, Mark Keene, the Assistant Pastor at Bethel Harvest Church spoke on the significance of baptism. Perhaps one of his most memorable points were how we, as the crowd witnessing, should react. He stated that while watching sports, we have a tendency to be, to put it lightly, a little out of control. Since that is the case, how could we watch individuals be baptized into Christ, the Savior of the world, and not want to bring the house down?

The house didn't come down, but some of us hit our knees. Others raised our hands. And tears flowed as the deep implications of what had just been witnessed swept over us. Three women who had committed themselves to Christ, women who have lived their lives with significant disability had declared that there will be a day when they will shake free from the chains of disability. They will be walking, and running, and singing and rejoicing in glory with their Father. Not because anything they did or can do, but because of the price that Jesus paid from them on the cross. He laid down so that they could stand. There will never be another reason to celebrate greater than that. No better reason to cheer, clap our hands, and stomp our feet, for these celebrations bear witness to eternity.

Expansion Update

As summer comes to an end, LLM still grows as if it were the height of spring. Right next door, the new space is coming to completion. Walls have been erected and painted, floors have been installed, lights have been hung. This new area will more than double the square footage of the organization and predominately function as our new Adult Day Training facility. This facility will offer a fully functional kitchen, three bathrooms (two commercial and one with an overhead Hoyer Lift), and indoor/outdoor space, and plenty of room to stretch our legs.

When that side of the building is completed, construction will began on the administrative side. The old ADT will be built into new offices. We'd like to thank everyone for being so patient during the construction and to continue to bear with us as God so graciously and gloriously expands the LLM kingdom.

Holding Grace - A Blog from the Heart
Joining in on Family Fun

Are you looking for fun activities to do with your friends and family during the month of October? Some of the most fun activities don't cost a penny, only a little time.

1. Listen to someone's story. Each of us has a beautiful story to share with others. Take some time this season to hear someone else's victories, discoveries, and wisdom.

2. Paint pumpkins! How fun is it to go to a nearby pumpkin patch to pick a few pumpkins? This is a good time to share with children the significance of honoring God in all seasons and not participating in the worship of evil that is often correlated with the holiday.

3. Sacrifice something dear to you. Maybe it is time? A possession you own? Malachi 3 speaks of God's heart on blessing those who give. It is always better to give than receive.

4. Enjoy a brisk walk followed by some apple cider. The sweet tastes of Autumn are right here!

5. Spend an evening doing what someone else wants. Make that evening all about them. Quality time is the best way to build and sustain relationships.

6. Pray and worship as a family. This is something my personal family attributes great value to. We have seen the rewards, benefits, and trustworthy results of this powerful practice. Read a passage of Scripture, pray over it, and then turn on some of your favorite worship music to get our minds fixed on God and not the present surroundings.

7. Kick your feet up and relax, and know that God has everything under control.

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." -Romans 8:2

LLM Presents: Brianna Thomas

Lord's Legacy is again humbled to be blessed by another outstanding staff. This months shout out goes to Brianna Thomas who, since February, has served passionately and diligently with LLM participants. Noted by her supervisors as being thorough and performing with integrity, she has quickly made an impact.

Brianna graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and Sociology. She is currently a graduate student at EKU where she is pursuing a Masters in Mental Health. It is her passion to help people and make a positive difference in their lives.

In her free time, Brianna enjoys playing with her dog, participating in church activities, and exercising. She also very much enjoys spending time with her finance.

Brianna's favorite part of working at LLM is seeing participants finally reach their goals when they did not think it was possible. An example of this was the joy she had in watching a participant she works with independently make important and wise decisions with money.

The time Brianna has invested in the ministry has been a true blessing.
