Celebration Baptism

Lord's Legacy would like to invite everyone to join us on September 20th at Bethel Harvest Church from 1PM-3PM for a time of fellowship and celebration. For the third year we will be breaking barriers for people who have desired to be baptized but have been unable to access the baptismal due to disability.

Water Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Water baptism also allows believers to publicly testify of their born-again experience. This is an outward sign and testimony of inward grace. The believer has been crucified with Christ, buried with Him, and raised together with Him to walk in the newness of life. The baptismal waters represent a burial ground. When you're buried with Christ in baptism, you are proclaiming to heaven, earth, and hell that the old you no longer exists. To be buried with Jesus means that your old self died to sin just as Jesus did when He was made sin for us (Romans 6: 3, 6, 10-12). That's why we are immersed. It's a picture of burial and resurrection.

If there is anyone who would like to be saved or has been saved, but did not have the opportunity to be water baptized due to physical and/or accessibility reasons, we would like to welcome you to this celebration. Adaptive equipment will be provided to remove the barriers. If you have a pastor who has led you to Christ, they are welcome to participate in the baptism.

If your loved one has already been saved or baptized, they are invited to enjoy the celebration with their friends. This event is open to the community.

John Robert Veillard: The man, the myth, the legend.

It is with much excitement that we announce the arrival of John Robert Veillard. Last week John landed in America for the first time. Born and raised in Haiti, John has longed for the opportunities to advance his education in order to return to his home country of Haiti and bring about reform. John Robert became part of the Lord's Legacy family when one of our teams visiting Haiti utilized his services as their translator.

This fall JR will be attending Kentucky Christian University where he will be pursing his degree in Business Administration. In the meantime John has been taking in American culture. So far he has had several cookouts, taught classes in the Day Training Center, and has made numerous friends.

John Robert's journey has taken him a long way, but he still has a long way to go. With tuition, room and board, books, and general living expenses, he can our support. You can donate on the website or you can bring other items to Lord's Legacy such as gift cards and fall/winter clothing.

Participant Spotlight: Shelley Lane

Shelley Lane, long time member of the LLM family, was recently recognized on LEX18 news for the years of volunteer work she has been doing at God's Pantry. The story aired on July 15th and highlighted Shelley's amazing heart. For almost half her life, Shelley has volunteered, working to both break barriers for herself and give hope to others. Shelley's unwillingness to allow her disability to stand in her way of serving and loving others is inspiring.

Holding Grace - Living Redefined

"For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes - the Jew first and also the Gentile." (Romans 1:16)

It is truly amazing that an all-powerful God would humble himself, coming to earth in human form, so that those who believe in the name of Jesus would have eternal life! The question is, how do we prepare for eternity? Do we sit by and say, "Oh, one day when we get to Heaven there will be no more sickness, no more poverty, and all my problems will disappear?" Or do we actively live a Redefined life, pursuing Christ, being transformed by that pursuit, and lighting up the world in His name?

Our preparation for eternity begins with studying the Word of God. I am in tears knowing that He blessed us with His living Word so that our relationship with Him can live, grow, thrive, and be nourished, a relationship full of life, energy, abundance, relief, assurance and passion that cannot be stopped. This is where our eternity begins, where our thinking is Redefined. It is the Word of God that gives us access to the true knowledge of God, grants us the ability to receive His love, and from that overflow, spread love to the world.

Preparation starts with knowing His Word, but that's just the beginning. We also pray, we talk to Him as papa, we worship him through our actions. Through this, we are being prepared, our hearts being remade, our thinking Redefined. Eternity is not just our reward, it is the mindset through which we live. Friend, being a Christ follower is not a problem free life; it is a life of CHOOSING to stand on the truth of Who Jesus is and What His word says about Him when problems arise and responding in those situations. It is knowing that no matter what we face, our eternal reward is secure, and from that we have absolutely nothing to lose when we live for MORE! Think for MORE! What we see is so limited at times to our own experiences and how we want to interpret situations. Friend, this eternal promise, covenant, and gift of life lived through and in Jesus, that He has given to anyone who believes is a daily process. We don't just pray the prayer of salvation, get baptized, and then become transformed. This life as a follower is worked out, taught through, trained in, and equipped by the Holy Spirit and those whom we choose to do life. It is daily preparation for eternal glory.

So what if everyday we wake up and say, "Father, let me give this life of eternity to someone today. Let me show and give Jesus in a way no one has ever seen, so that they won't forget that they have seen his face!" WOAH! That would change our lifestyle. Our thinking would different. Our actions would be different. Our lifestyle Redefined. We would live and give in Christ, who is not dead, but surely alive!

Have you received Him into your life? If you have or haven't, pray this prayer with me: "Father in Heaven, come into my life with the power and resurrection of your Spirit. Fill me anew everyday with your ways and teach me how to give others this gift of life you have freely given me, I choose you as my Lord, today, tomorrow, and forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Much love,
Meg
