"God's mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water, or deprive the sun of its light, or make space too narrow, than diminish the great mercy of God." -Charles Spurgeon

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into his grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5: 1-2
Participant Spotlight: Steven Stone

The man, the myth, the legend--Steven Stone. Steven has long been a dear friend and comrade to those at Lord's Legacy. We honor him this month for his recent procuration of employment at Wal-Mart. Since February Steven worked with Employment Specialist, Julie Thomas, and two months later found a job.

Steven works in Lawn and Garden, where he waters plants, helps people load items into their vehicle, and stocks shelves. Steven says that one of the highlights of his job is spending time with his dad, who is also employed with Wal-Mart.

Holding Grace: A Blog from the Heart
"Throw off the Baggage."
Hebrews 12:1-2

The more I learn about God and His ways the more I understand how much He loves me, how purposeful each day is. Our life is a gift and we have the ability to obtain the treasure each day contains. Hebrews 12:1-2 talks about letting go and stripping off every weight that tries to slows us down-the baggage of sin that tries to trip us up and distract us. The passage goes on to say, "And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne."

The baggage in our lives loves nothing more than to tear us down, to prevent us from looking into the eyes of our Champion. Through Jesus enduring the cross, He has made an escape route for us through salvation by believing in Him. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith. Anyone who believes in Him will have abundance of life. No matter what the baggage, through Jesus we have overcome.

How would you run the race differently if you knew that what you faced had no power to stop you? How awesome is it that we have a God who has given us help through the Holy Spirit to persevere! We do not face our days alone.

"Father in heaven, I thank you for the reader of this blog. I thank you that you help them in whatever situation they are facing. I pray that they will allow your Holy Spirit to throw off baggage that may be weighing them down and give them the vision of the race you have ahead of them. Strengthen their hands and feet, clearing their eyes of distraction, let them run with purpose and endurance with you as their constant prize."

Jesus' name, Amen.

Much Love,

Meg

Lord's Legacy at Lexington Legends

On a warm June night, Lord's Legacy was the featured non-profit at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. We had a booth, complete with LLM swag, and raffle items. It was a great evening of advocating, snow-cones, and baseball.

LLM Presents: Patricia Flolu

Lord's Legacy presents the lovely Patricia Flolu, the winner of this month's fifty dollars for being an outstanding member of the team. Patricia came to LLM in January of 2012 where she has served participants in the residential home. She is a native of Ghana, Africa, moving to America 2011 with her husband and children.

When asking Patricia what she enjoys most about her job, she said: "I just love working with the participants. They've been the only ladies I've worked with since I've started here. I love them so much." In her free time Patricia enjoys cooking, specifically Ghanaian dishes.

We thank Patricia for being a constant companion to the ladies in the home. Her heart and dedication has had a major impact on them, as well as on the ministry.
LLM Welcomes Brittainy Martinez

We are happy to announce the addition of our newest House Manager, Brittainy Martinez. Brittainy is a Chicago native who ventured to Kentucky to go to school and be close to family. She graduated from Asbury University with a Bachelor of Sociology and Masters of Social Work. She desires to utilize her degree to serve God by being the hands and feet of Jesus.

In her free time, Brittainy enjoys hanging out with friends, going to the movies, and being outdoors. She is excited about being in a positive work community and getting to know the participants and other team members of Lord's Legacy. Brittainy's dream is to one day open a community center where people from all walks of life and social needs can come.
